ADDING YEARS TO LIFE - AND LIFE TO YEARS We might live longer chronologically but not living longer in good health. We’re just managing longevity better but haven’t yet managed to add life to years. ... That’s the challenge. Living longer when you’re seriously ill is not something any of us wants. What we all aspire to is more productive and independent years to life. Sadly, many don’t always realize what a difference their actions can make. And there’s often a sense that if something goes wrong, doctors and health insurance will fix it, so they don’t need to bother doing things to stop getting ill in the first place. We have an equal responsibility to manage our health and to do our part to care for ourselves the best possible way. I hear you, and I got you, you don't have to do this alone! THE OLDER YOU GET, THE FASTER YOU AGE Once you get to that particular age like my almost 56-year-old belly laughing self, life can quickly get away on you. And not just life but the joy that comes with it. Maybe you wished you would have stuck to your goals just like your good friend did?... Goals like losing weight, so you feel confident, reduce risks of diseases, or work out to keep up on a hike with your grandkids. Or even improve your strength, so you don't lose your bone mass or balance to fall less likely. Not that you didn't try , but somehow she did it; she stuck with it and made it happen. Maybe you had some significant momentum before COVID changed the world. Even as you read this, many women in their 50's and 60's are crushing their goals to be active and healthy agers. Your friend or a next-door neighbor is not the only one; there are thousands of active, healthy agers that we're able to lose weight, gain the strength and mobility they needed, and get their fountain of youth back. The good news is that you can now get there yourself % more accessible than ever before. Thanks to the online world, middle-aged women are increasing their live span by losing more weight, gaining more strength, getting the support and encouragement they need, and getting back the joy they were missing from their lives. There are two choices: 1) Either you dare to start yourself or... 2) watch others around you succeed in making the changes you so much desire for yourself. Yes, you could take a chance, not do anything and hope for the best outcome for your life as you get older, and the weight keeps going up, and your mobility keeps going down, but this could backfire. And you could find yourself in a position of no return. Take steps NOW to ensure that aging will not be in your way of doing the things in life you enjoy.
