The Lions Foundation of Canada provides dog guides to Canadians with disabilities including Hearing Dog Guides. Hearing Dog Guides assist individuals who are 10 years of age or older and who are deaf or hard of hearing to detect sounds they are unable to hear on their own. Why do my ears feel clogged? There are times when you purposely plug your earsthink fingers or earplugsand then there are, well, other times when your ears feel clogged for no good reason. Here’s a tip: Find a doctor, hearing specialist or audiologist near you and have your hearing evaluated before trouble starts. The baseline information the initial test provides will be a good benchmark for your medical team to use in an emergency situation and to monitor your hearing health.

Over 460 million people worldwide have disabling hearing loss according to the World Health Organization. So how are people who are d/Deaf (lower case refers to the physical condition of deafness, capital D refers to the Deaf community) or hard of hearing surviving mask mandates?

Face masks make it more difficult to understand speech, especially for people with hearing loss. Our research team at the University of Illinois measured the effects of different face masks on speech signals.
