In listening to a Simon Sinek podcast recently, this golden nugget came to surface during his interview with Quilen Blackwell (link in bio). It was one of those lightbulb moments where I physically stopped the car, replayed the podcast and took this down in my notes. It was special because it perfectly summarized that intangible feeling many of us have as we embark on a creative pursuit that involves making an impact. This dignity he speaks of, I believe refers to the dignity... within oneself the respect and honour we have within ourselves and in the work we set out to do. It puts into question what we’re doing, why we’re doing it and who we’re doing it for? But more importantly, it’s revitalizing to know that the work we commit to everyday is improving the lives of other people in more ways than one. Hey y’all! For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Bianca, the Founder here at Next Edition. This picture perfectly captures my excitement for Spring Believe it or not, it’s officially 1 month away and I am ready for it. I wanted to take a minute and say hello to our beloved following! You’ve been supporting us on here for almost 4 years and I wanted to personally thank you for every like, share and comment. All of this support is what allows us to grow from one year to the... next and I am forever grateful. This last lockdown in Toronto was really hard for me, with the winter gloominess and all. I’ve been really searching for the silver lining here and one thing I’ve gained from this is a lot more time to reflect. I’ve been really thinking about what I enjoy doing the most. When you’re caught up in the busyness it becomes difficult to discern what you actually enjoy doing versus what needs to get done. All that aside, one thing I know I love doing is helping my fellow entrepreneurs entrepreneurs who lead with real purpose and passion. At the end of the day, I just want to be your HYPE GIRL. Owning a business can be challenging and overwhelming, regardless if your just starting out or you’re seasoned and have been in the game for a while. In some way, I would love to make this easier on my fellow entrepreneurs, whether it’s by providing you resources, connecting for a Zoom lunch or making an introduction with a peer or colleague. In an effort to give the people what they want I urge you to send me an email or DM me to share your biggest pain points (content-related or not). GOOD MONDAY! As we wrap up a year filled with unexpected twists and turns, I want to take a moment and express my deepest gratitude for everything this year as taught me as a person and as a business owner. I won’t sit here and say that there weren’t trials and tribulations because there were a boatload. However, with equal importance, this past year has also gifted me a lot solitude, reflection, inspiration to do things differently, business opportunities and even relationships both personally and professionally. 2020 has also allowed me to reacquaint with things I once enjoyed (writing poetry) and uncover new things I never thought I loved doing (writing lyrics to music). While I’m ready to put these past 12 months behind me, I’m grateful everything it unlocked within me. Tell me, what has this past year gifted you?
