We highly recommend staying out of the Antigonish Skatepark when it is raining or if the park is wet. The skatepark is slippery on a dry day. It is designed thi...s way on purpose so that in the event of a fall the person falling will slide to a stop rather than stop all at once. Falling down will always be a part of your disciplines progression (skateboard, bike, scooter, etc.). When we fall, its not the falling that hurts; its the sudden stopping that hurts. When falling occurs, we want to slide out whenever possible so that we distribute that falling energy over a longer distance and distributing the impact more so that we can bounce back up and try again. It only takes a little bit of water, a light rain or a damp autumn day to turn an already slippery surface into dangerously slippery surface. Even walking through the park on a wet day will be dangerous and is not recommended. Please, if its wet, stay out of the park. <3

This is a message about recognitions; As you drive into Antigonish you will likely drive past the James St. Plaza and their beautifully paved parking lot that m...akes Antigonish shine. We love that people coming to the Antigonish Skatepark are greeted this way. The Snow Queen was also a cash donor to the Antigonish Skatepark so that people in our town have a safe place to skateboard, bike and scooter. For the James St. Plaza making Antigonish look awesome and for putting cash into our town; we thank you. Now, about that parking lot. Yes, its new. Yes, it looks smooth. However, we dont want to see people rolling, pushing or biking through it. No one at the James St. Plaza has complained to us and no one asked us to write this. This is a message about recognitions. And we would like to recognize that no one wants to see anyone skating, biking or scootering through the parking lot because cars are not expecting it. The sidewalks are in excellent condition. We all paid so that we could have a SAFE place to skateboard, bike and scooter. Use the sidewalk and then you can walk through the parking lot, which is what normal traffic will be expecting. When friends from out of town are here you can remind them to walk through the James St. Plaza parking lot when they go for refreshments. And since we are at the bottom lines; The James St. Plaza and Snow Queen have been a part of Antigonish for as long as most of us can remember. They have always supported our local teams and our local causes and the Antigonish Skatepark. They use their own money to make the gateway to Antigonish look great and they do not want to see anyone get hurt in their parking lot. We pay them with respect for all they have done. The sidewalk is the sidewalk and the parking lot is the parking lot.
