Let’s get messy with Miss Andrea! Take some time to try making floating chalk prints. Experiment with fancy designs and try different colours of paper and chalk. You’ll need: some paper, a shallow container or pan, chalk, a plastic knife, and water.
It's Behind the Scenes Friday! Radios reporting for duty
Throwback Thursdays! #TBT Farmers’ Markets in Niagara Falls We’re lucky that Niagara has great soil and climate for agriculture, including tender fruit. This year’s Niagara Falls Farmers Market will be opening May 15! Farmers’ markets have existed in Niagara Falls since the mid-1800s. The Town of Clifton (incorporated in 1856) had a market square at Erie Avenue and Park Street near the railway tracks. When a new Town Hall was built on Queen Street (the former Court House bui...lding, recently demolished), the Market Square behind the hall hosted regular downtown sales of food and goods for years. More recently, Sylvia Place Farmers Market, behind the Niagara Falls History Museum, has been a venue for not only fresh food, but festivals and events like the Peach Festival and Culturefest. A new market and culture hub is being constructed at Sylvia Place, so for the second year, the Niagara Falls market will be at the MacBain Centre. Watch for the library booth again this year - we’re giving away FREE vegetable seeds as part of our Seed to Seed program! We’ve added a new image collection to our historic database - "Niagara Falls Farmers’ Market Through the Years". Donated photos have been scanned, and are currently being uploaded online. Be sure to check it out! #ThrowbackThursday

Get cozy and gather round! It’s time for Chapter by Chapter with Dolora. She’s reading Live and Let Pie by Ellie Alexander, which is probably the most delicious installment of the author’s Bakeshop Mysteries series. Here’s the second chapter.... Tune in every Wednesday to keep up with the story.
The last batch of security camera shots from the Stuffed Animal Sleepover - bust little critters!

Let’s get messy with Miss Andrea. Grab some items you have around the house and follow along to see how to build a bubbling monster. You’ll need: a paper towel roll, scissors, markers, baking soda, vinegar, and food colouring.
We thought the stuffies would be tucked in and sleep all night, but our security cameras caught some activity!
Happy Anniversary to the Victoria Library! Nov. 23, 1974 the branch of the Niagara Falls Public Library located at the corner of Victoria Ave. and Morrison St. opened. Did you know that the site was formerly an Eaton's Department store?
The stuffies had a full day of playing in the library! Now that we're closed i'm sure they'll stay fast asleep. If the stuffies wake up during the night, do you think they'll be bored?
Follow along with Donna as she shows you how to use simple ovals to sketch out drawings of birds, including a hummingbird and an ostrich. You’ll need: a pencil, an eraser, markers, and a few sheets of paper. Music: bensound.com
5 Days of Halloween, Day 5!! Write or read a spooky story filled with goblins and ghouls. Perhaps your story takes place in a haunted house. Did someone get lost in a dark scary forest? You’ll need lots of imagination for this challenge! Also let us know what you'll be dressing up as tomorrow in the comments below!
The evolution of Library Bags!
Let’s get messy with Miss Andrea. This activity uses different liquids to create colourful designs. Oil and water don’t mix, but they can still work together to produce magnificent masterpieces. You’ll need: oil, water, food colouring, card stock or heavy paper, a cake pan, and a stir stick. Music: bensound.com
Throwback Thursdays! #TBT Rainbow Dairies Rainbow Dairies Limited was established in 1942, with the purchase of the Niagara Cooperative Dairy. Other dairies were purchased over the next few years, including The Power City Dairy, Taylor's Dairy and Chippawa Dairy. A larger plant became necessary, and in 1952, operations were moved from the Buchanan Avenue location to 414 Portage Road South, the refurbished Marsh Winery. It was the first dairy in Niagara to take shipments of mi...lk in stainless steel tank trucks. More dairies were acquired, and by 1961, Rainbow Dairies was the largest dairy in the Niagara Region. The plant had a dairy bar and snack shop, open to the general public, which focussed on ice cream, milk drinks and short-order food. Today, the former dairy facility hosts Delphi Banquet Hall and Greek on Portage restaurant.
Day 4! Create an eerie drawing or painting for Halloween. Will it have bats and cats? Perhaps a Haunted house on a hill with a fence or spooky tree? Maybe a witch on a broom in front of a big old yellow moon? Use any medium: paint, pencil crayons, markers or pencils.
