It was really a surprise for me to see this message while looking through the Harvard Research Bulletin. During my time at Harvard, one of my goal was to make a significant contribution on the Research Bulletin. I cannot think of a better and more meaningful way to end my time at HSDM than to receive the Nevins Teaching and Clinical Research Fellowship, and to be featured on the Harvard Research Bulletin. I am very excited for the next step of my career and to come back to my hometown to join the McGill Faculty of Dentistry. Although, I am incredibly grateful for these amazing past two years and will always keep fond memories of my time at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. #harvardbulletin #academia #award #harvard #hsdm #mcgill #periodontist #periodontology #dentist #dentistry #academiclife #professor #periomontreal

2020 has been a crazy year in many aspects but not everything was bad. When I first started my academic career, I never thought I would ever receive an award from the AAP Foundation. It is such a great honor for me to be the recipient of both the Nevins Teaching & Clinical Research Fellowship and the Institute for Teaching and Learning Fellowship. These awards are given once a year to foster the careers of promising young researchers and educators as well as retain them in ac...ademia. The Nevins fellowship is especially meaningful to me, as Dr. Myron Nevins has been an important mentor and role model in my life. These past two years have been a formative period in my career and I will always have fond memories of my time at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. #aap #appfoundation #academia #award #harvard #hsdm #periodontology #dentist #dentistry #academiclife #professor

Our group is very excited that the Reverse Palatal Pedicle Graft (RPPG) is featured on this month’s cover of Clinical Advances in Periodontics, an official journal of the AAP. This technique is one of the few evidence we have on the treatment of maxillary molar palatal recessions. To learn more about the RPPG https://doi.org/10.1002/cap.10096

We rarely realize the importance of a moment until it is already gone. To me, graduation was just a lame ceremony with long speeches. However, in lights everything that is going on, I realize how lucky I was to be able to celebrate the end of dental school with my family and friends. It felt like not too long ago. However, today marks the 10-year anniversary of the day I became a dentist. It was the start of a beautiful and fulfilling journey, and I could never imagine where ...it would take me. To the class of 2020, I congratulate you on your big achievement and I would like to share the following words of advice: 1) The thing that helped my career the most was finding amazing mentors and role models 2) Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. It is not easy but always worth it in the end 3) Put yourself out there because other people will never know what you want 4) Find what you love to do and you will never work a day in your life. Can you recognize who is this person standing next to me? ____________________________________________________ #graduationday #dmd #dmd2010 #udem #universitedemontreal #10year #dmd2020

The Reverse Palatal Pedicle Graft (RPPG) is a novel technique to treat palatal recessions that was recently published in the Clinical Advances in Periodontics. A partial thickness incision is prepared mesial to the recession and a full thickness flap is elevated in the distal portion. A pedicle CTG is created, flipped over the recession and tucked under the distal pouch. 1) the pedicle is secured using a horizontal mattress suture 2) the recession is sutured with simple interrupted sutures 3) the anterior portion is closed with a continuous suture and finally 4) the posterior incisions are sutured with simple interrupted sutures. To learn more about the RPPG please refer to the original article by Bradley Weinstein, Charles Pham and Thomas Nguyen

For those who are interested, I will be giving a webinar in collaboration with Straumann on the periodontal applications for enamel matrix derivatives. EMDs have several clinical applications in regeneration, treatment of gingival recessions, and the healing of soft tissue. This course will describe the scientific evidence supporting the use of enamel matrix proteins, their mechanisms of action, and their clinical indications. Places are limited, please RSVP with the link below https://skill.straumann.com/en-US/Details?TrainingID=6510

Our manuscript on the Reverse Palatal Pedicle Graft (RPPG) is finally published in the Clinical Advances in Periodontics. This case report is only the second paper to be published on treatment of palatal recession and we are incredibly honored to offer this small contribution to the periodontal literature.
