This is a great book with excellent information on caring for your senior dog. It has been written by one of our colleagues, a physiotherapist in Kingston. It’s for sale through Amazon. Hard copies will be out soon. https://www.amazon.ca/This-Old-Dog-owners-pro//ref=sr_1_1

Congratulations to our final graduate of 2020, Bella. She came to us late October with a history of an injury to the cruciate ligament in her stifle, as well as already having luxating patellas. Bella and her owner have worked very hard at her exercise program and she has gained strength, is walking well and even lost a little weight.

Dear valued clients, We wish to thank you all for your support and understanding as we continue to provide much needed pain-relieving treatments for our patients. An update on what you need to know as we enter a province wide 28-day shutdown: 1. We will remain open on Monday and Friday 9 a.m. 5:30 pm, Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m, and Wednesday 9 a.m 5 p.m. If these hours change you will be informed. ... 2. No clients are allowed in the building. Clients are asked to call us when they arrive in the parking lot and to follow instructions given by staff. Pets are placed between the glass doors and a staff member retrieves them once the owner has stepped back outside. Even the most anxious patients have been handling this very well. Door handles are regularly cleaned after each client. 3. We will no longer be scheduling any recreational swimming during lockdown. If your pet is scheduled for a rehab appointment that includes swimming, a member of staff will continue to assist them in the pool. 4. We request payments be made over the phone with a credit card or by E-transfer, whenever possible. 5. Clients who have travelled in the 2 weeks prior to their appointment, are feeling ill (regardless of whether they have COVID-19) or have been in contact with someone who is suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 will need to find someone else to bring their pet to us or cancel their appointments. THERE WILL BE NO PENALTIES FOR LATE CANCELLATIONS FOR THESE REASONS: - If you are uncomfortable with any of these regulations or are still concerned about the risks to yourself and your family, we fully understand if you wish to cancel your appointment for the time being. Again, there will be no penalties for late cancellations. Thank you for your cooperation. We look forward to being able to have clients in the building again, when the government and health officials say it is safe to do so. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all the staff at the Canine Conditioning Centre! Barbara, Keri and the NCCC staff Please note: We will be closing on December 24, 2020 and reopen on January 4, 2020

NOVEMBER IS SENIOR PET MONTH In recognition of Senior Pet Month, the Niagara Canine Conditioning Centre will give a free gift to all new patients assessed for our Senior Care Program. They will also be entered in a draw for a free massage or swim. One of our most successful programs is our Senior Care Program for both cats and dogs. With this program, we use LASER Acupuncture (LA). LA is an intervention that stimulates traditional acupuncture points using low-lev...el laser therapy. Compared to traditional needle acupuncture, LA has multiple advantages, including ease of application, dose measurement precision, painlessness and non-invasiveness. It is also quick, safe, and carries no risk of infection. By using LASER rather than needles to stimulate acupuncture points, we get the added benefit of increased ATP production in the cells and the pain-relieving properties of both modalities at the same time. Our Senior Program clients also receive education on caring for a senior pet, weight loss, if required, and a comprehensive home exercise program. We have various assistive devices for sale including Help ‘Em Up Harnesses and wheelchairs. We sell custom braces, both soft and rigid, and these are measured or casted in the clinic. If you have a dog or cat that has slowed down, having trouble getting in or out of the car or going up and downstairs, is arthritic or has general muscle weakness, please call us at 289-362-5900 or e mail [email protected] to set up an appointment. A veterinary referral is required. See more
