Anyone one volunteering lately would be amazed by the volume of produce coming in. This means our dryer is running 24 hours a day 6 days a week. We look forward to our second dryer being operational to handle all this produce so more people around the world will be fed. God has indeed blessed this little mission in Smithville Ontario, we look forward to to what He has in store for the future. Niagara Christian Gleaners - With sincere humility and grateful hearts the Board of Directors and Management of NCG wishes to thank the individuals, corporations, churches, and foundations who have helped in raising the funds to purchase our second commercial food dehydrator. The dryer has been ordered and many of the other details of this endeavor are being addressed. We are humbled by the love that so many have, and continue to show the Gleaners. With this addition, we can ...now increase production from the 1,600,000 lb. of fresh produce that was dried and provided for those in need during 2020. We cannot do this without your continued support and we thank-you for the trust you have placed in us to not only continue - but to expand this important work. As an organization we have so much to be thankful for. God is blessing the efforts of NCG as it seeks to bless hungry bodies and souls with nutritious food across the globe, while at the same time reducing food waste. We’re off to a great start in 2021 at NCG. Despite the ongoing pandemic, we are still seeing loads of smiles and loads produce every day. It’s hard to believe we are approaching the end of the year, and what a year it has been! As always our volunteers are the ones who make NCG able to function day to day through the year. The Lord has blessed the mission of Niagara Christian Gleaners beyond words. In 2 short years we have been able to process more than 3 million pounds of produce which has translated into more than 8.5 million servings of food aid. This has been shared with those less fortunate across the globe, all in the name of Christ, as an act of love and mercy. The need for food continues to grow and Covid-19 has increased their food security challenges. At NCG we have reached maximum ca...pacity with our food dehydrator. It is often running 22 hours out of every 24, 6 days a week. In response to the growing need for food, the plentiful supply of produce, and the willing hands of our volunteers, our Board of Directors and Management are responding to these challenges by ordering a second food dehydrator. The costing of this project is expected to be $300,000. We are inviting you to personally get involved with this exciting next step for NCG. We receive no government support and we provide dried food at no cost to our distribution partners. We remain entirely reliant on those who align with our goals and feel called to partner with us financially. If you are able to help us out with this purchase, we promise to be wise stewards of whatever you entrust to us. There are a few convenient ways of doing this. We have been running our dryers non-stop for quite some time now. This of course is attributed to how smooth our workflow is thanks to our amazing volunteers prepping all this produce. Ted from Wells of Hope also stopped by to talk to us about how they distribute aid in Guatemala. NCG and Wells of Hope have distributed over 1.4 millions servings in this country so far, wow! The last few weeks have been a busy time at the NCG. We have been seeing a big increase in volunteer signups. We are especially excited to see so many kids and teens helping out as well. It’s so good for these younger volunteers to understand the importance of this kingdom work. We continue to humbled by our produce donors. We have been receiving loads of produce including potatoes and apples. Despite the new guidelines making face coverings mandatory, our gracious and understanding volunteers have no complaints. The spirit is upbeat and positive at NCG these days despite our crazy year. 11,000 lbs of butternut squash was processed this week and 100,000 lbs of carrots, onions, beets and potatoes also arrived. From raw vegetable to boxed and loaded, the process of what the Gleaners does has many stages. Many thanks to this amazing crew for loading trucks this week. These shipments of over 1.5 million servings are headed to Guatemala as well as Columbia where they are seeing a surge of Venezuelan refugees coming in. There are many logistical and bureaucratic challenges with getting this aid to the right places.
