CASTING CALL: Are you not able to spend the holidays with your family out of town? (Compensation: $1000 + if selected) Stella Artois is launching a new campaig...n for the holidays and we're looking to feature someone living in Toronto, Canada (GTA), who won't be able to spend the winter holidays with their family who live out of town. Apply: https://www.thecastinggroup.com/stella-a-taste-of-home The commercial will follow the featured person selected from this casting call who, for one reason or another, won’t be able to go back to their parents/grandparents/uncles/aunts/etc place over the holidays, and because of that reason, they will miss out on the home-cooked holiday food. We will be wanting to feature both the stranded person in Toronto, and a person from home out of town to fully tell this story of missing out of spending the holidays with the family. This most likely will be (but doesn’t have to be) a child and a parent or grandparent. For the person who can’t go home stuck in Toronto: We are looking for someone age 25+, any gender and ethnicity, working in Toronto, but with their family elsewhere in Canada or abroad that they would typically spend the holidays with or had planned on spending the holidays with but of course due to several potential reasons, this year they cannot. Example Stories: International Families: Students, or workers who aren’t able to travel back home during the holidays. Canadians who have older relatives in other countries. Due to COVID or other travel restrictions you cannot make the trip and spend the holidays with them. Or Somebody who lives in Canada but has a lot of family overseas. She doesn’t normally go home over the holidays, but it’s when she misses family and food the most. Holiday Workers: Firefighters, hospital workers, taxi drivers, etc who usually have to work over the holidays so they can’t be with their families from a different part of Canada. Small business owners as well. Example: Young paramedic in Toronto who works through the holiday season and doesn’t have time to go home to Ottawa. Or maybe a Hospital worker who is avoiding contact with her parents to be safe, so you have to spend holidays alone. Or Small restaurant/business owners who need to try to stay open during the holiday and can’t go home. Whatever your story is we want to hear all about it. To be considered, please apply here: https://www.thecastinggroup.com/stella-a-taste-of-home

Dr. Robert I. MacDonald and Martin Cooper will lead the teaching, "13,000 Years of Indigenous Navigation and Settlement in the Great Lakes Watershed" live on Sa...turday 12 Sept at 3pm. Even as the Laurentide ice sheet was withdrawing over 13,000 years ago, Indigenous peoples were exploring the newly available landscape as clearly shown by archaeological evidence. The locations of settlements and the tools and technology that make up the archaeological record demonstrate superb adaptation to an environment that changed significantly and continually for thousands of years. This presentation will highlight both the environmental changes and how Indigenous peoples responded to these changes in the Niagara Region and throughout the Great Lakes watershed, including the shift by some southern communities from a hunter-gatherer economy to an agricultural economy over the last 2000 years. https://www.celebrationofnations.ca/2020-virtual-events/ Celebration of Nations 2020 | Virtual Edition
