WE WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR CURBSIDE SERVICE FOR ALL VETERINARY CARE INCLUDING DAILY EMERGENCIES DURING THE COVID SHUTDOWN! (*PLEASE NOTE HOLIDAY SCHEDULE WHEN WE ARE CLOSED) Dear WONDERFUL CLIENTS AND PETS:... COVID has put us back into a Lockdown, but it WILL NOT AFFECT THE CARE OR THE HOURS YOU RECEIVE AT NIAGARA FALLS ANIMAL MEDICAL CENTRE, as we are classified as an essential service. And WE ARE STILL HERE FOR YOU! We are now entering Holiday hours (see below), but besides closing certain days for statutory holidays, our hours will remain the same, AND we will be able to continue to provide all veterinary care including emergencies, medicines and foods to you. Please be aware, however, that we are experiencing delays in getting some items shipped to us, so order your refillable medicines and food earlier than you normally do. We will continue curbside service in order to protect you and our staff, but you have shown us that you are flexible, agreeable and patient with this arrangement, and we so appreciate your understanding as we work hard to take care of your family members. It has worked very well, and it is a requirement (by the Ontario government) for us so we can remain open. Just remember the following points: 1. Call ahead of time to make an appointment or to let us know you are coming to pick up items. 2. Call from your car when you are in our parking lot. 3. Remember your mask and put it on when we approach your car. 4. Make sure your pet is easily retrievable from your car. 5. Have your cat or small dog in a carrier; have a leash ready for your dog. 6. Check your dog’s collar to be sure it is snug; we will put a slip collar over your dog’s head to use while you hold onto your collar. 7. If you are just picking up meds or food, let us know on the phone and we will bring it out to you, or to the front door, along with a credit/debit machine. 8. You can certainly use cash, but using debit/credit is greatly appreciated! We will get through this together! Some parts of the country have been experiencing unusually mild temperatures this fall. Ticks are making the most of these ideal (for them) conditions, enjoying a longer period of activity, hanging out in the grass and hiding in the leaves ready and waiting for a new host! Even when it starts to get a bit colder, as long as temperatures reach 4C and above, it’s important to continue to protect pets with a flea and tick control product that is a perfect match for them!
Adorable Lily Grace all set for this colder weather.
We’re loving all these pictures. Beautiful Zoey by the gorgeous tree!

This Saturday, Oct 24, 2020, there is a bike/walk fundraiser in honor of the late Dr. Ron Mergl. It is called the Dr. Ron Mergl Memorial Rotary Pedal for Polio and is being held on BOTH sides of the border, involving over 60 Rotary Clubs in New York State and in Ontario. Dr. Ron loved babies and children as much as animals, and was passionate about helping Rotary eliminate polio so babies can grow up without the fear of crippling disease or death, as it was in the 1950's. Dr. Ron and his wife Dr. June vaccinated for a month at a time two different times at their own personal expense in India and Benin, West Africa, and were planning another trip when Dr. Ron was struck down by cancer. Please consider giving to this event--just follow the link--in Dr. Mergl's honor. Thank you! https://raise.rotary.org/June-Mergl/memorial
Did you know....... Fall is actually a PEAK activity period for adult blacklegged ticks (the ticks associated with Lyme disease) that look for hosts on which to feed from late September to mid-December. Call us to ensure your pet is protected during these cooler months.
Today we had to help dear Tomasina Aniche cross the rainbow bridge. She will be greatly missed by her loving cat mom Dr. June Mergl, and family that have known and loved her for many years. All the staff at AMC sent her off with pets and hugs. Now she can rest on Dr. Ron’s lap.
