If you ever wonder why cyclists don't always seem to ride in the bike lane, sometimes it's because of stuff like this. Maybe it's cleaned up now, but just be aware that dirt and loose gravel are hazards to cyclists.

Remember in 2020, when I said I was done? Well, all I can say is that you never know what the future holds. https://theniagaraguide.com/say-what/

Something else I never learned in school: we had slavery in Canada. This letter is written by a slave from what is now NOTL, but between 1629 and 1834, slavery was a part of Canada's colonial past throughout Upper and Lower Canada, and the maritimes. Slaves were mostly indigenous and black. Thank you Niagara on the Lake Museum, for sharing this piece of history that generally isn't part of the Canadian history curriculum. According to Wikipedia, there were also slaving systems among some indigenous peoples in areas that became part of Canada. Do a search for "slavery in Canada" to find more information.

Effective? Sure. Efficient? Not by a long shot. Still, I'll be me, you be you. If this is the way you choose to make the world a better place, then go for it :)

Hot. Sunny. Breezy. A great day for a former Niagara resident to re-discover the joys of cycling in his childhood stomping grounds. https://zcu.io/c8B1

There's a tendency to focus on the worst possible outcome. Unfortunately, it's not the ONLY outcome and we tend to miss the bigger picture.

Niagara's slowly opening. What's coming next? How will we behave? Will it be a success? That's probably up to us :)
