This just in! Thanks to the strong voices that made this happen! We are #OntarioParamedics

**Update** It was announced today by the OAPC that Dr. Huyer has confirmed that Paramedics will be in Phase 1 of the vaccine rollout. Thanks to all the strong paramedic voices that made this happen. As #paramedics we often hear we didn’t know you could do that. Last night we learned that @fordnation doesn’t consider Paramedics in Ontario frontline healthcare workers and won’t be considered a priority for vaccine administration. ... This is but a small percentage of what your #ontarioparamedics have in their bags on each routine call, ready to manage and treat any medical emergency that you or your family may have in any possible situation. You had to pull over on the highway with your wife in late labour and you can’t see ahead because of the snow storm? We will be there. Your husband recently tested positive for covid-19 and now is struggling to breathe? We will be there. Your 4 year old diabetic son is unresponsive and in seizure? We will be there. Someone blew a stop sign and hit your car while you were on your way to the Covid-19 testing center to get swabbed due to symptoms? We will be there. Your mother just collapsed on the kitchen floor and is not breathing? We will be there. Now add to each situation that these patients were hypothetically recently at a holiday get together and were just informed that multiple people had tested positive that they had close contact with. We will continue to be there for you and your family every day because that’s what we do.

Shoutout to one of our members Gord who sacrificed his stomach and sweat glands to raise money for Gillian’s place here in Niagara. Gord completed the #onechipchallenge (1.6 million scoville) WITH hot sauce on top (1 million scoville) AND THEN ate a lil nitro gummy bear right after (9 million scoville)... He blew his goal of $500 out of the water by raising over $2600, all of which was donated. Thanks Gord, you’re a champion! Thoughts and prayers are with your digestive system at this time For more information about Gillian’s Place or if you missed out on donating. > https://www.gilliansplace.com/donate

Your #niagaramedics were busy today delivering food donations across our community! When the Paramedic Memorial Bell visited Niagara this year, we asked for non perishable food items as donations to give us an opportunity to give back to our community during the holiday season. Thank you to CUPE 911 and Niagara EMS as well as those Paramedics, Dispatchers, fleet staff and others who were able to give! ... This year has been filled with so many uncertainties and unknowns, but one thing we are sure of is what a great community we have in #Niagara! We proudly wear this poppy on our uniform today to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Although 2020 has had many ups and downs, let’s be reminded of the far greater hardships and sacrifices that these men and women experienced to give us what we have today. For those who left and never returned, and for those who returned but were never the same. We will remember. ... #lestweforget #Thankyou
