It was Helicopter Short Haul recert day for some of the specialized members of the Niagara Parks Police (High Angle River Team - HART) and our Emergency Task Unit. This is an annual recertification. This technique allows for casualties in difficult locations such as the gorge to be lifted out. It also cuts down some of the impact on resources. Historically (and still sometimes today) casualties had to be carried out of the steep gorge by teams of emergency personnel (police, fire, paramedics). Thank you to a great community partner in Niagara Helicopters.

School Resource Officers and the Niagara Regional Police K9 unit putting on a demonstration for the Niagara Catholic District School Board’s Soaring Eagles Program. The students got to see a firsthand demonstration by PC Van RIEL and his K9 partner Jax and learn all about missing person searches, K9 tracks, articles searches and the training it takes to be a K9 handler.
