VIRTUAL WOODWORKING SHOW - Nov. 6, 7, 8, 2020 With limited opportunities to network with woodworkers during the tightened social restrictions of the Covid-19 situation, the Virtual Woodshow may well be one of your best chances to learn some new things and see some woodworkers in action. This event is organized by the same folks who put on the Woodstock, Hamilton and Toronto Wood Shows in the past. They are working hard to try and help the woodworking community stay connected ...with new ideas and presentations. At present, registration is free so hit the link and sign up to learn some new things and support this fine organization. https://woodshows.com/ See more

As uncertainty remains in Ontario about the ability for large group gatherings to be held in the Fall months, the people who put on the Woodstock, Hamilton, Toronto and Ottawa Woodworking Shows have just announced their Virtual Woodworking Show to be held November 6-8, 2020. As an incentive to this new type of woodworking show, there are a limited number of free registrations being offered on their website. You can check it all out and take advantage of registering while there are some free spots available. Here is the link to their Facebook page and the registration portal.

Virtually speaking - Now there are Virtual Woodworking Conferences. Members of the Niagara Woodworking Club may be interested in the upcoming AAW American Association of Woodturners Virtual Symposium being held this weekend, July 10-12, 2020. The situation surrounding restrictions on gatherings of people in large numbers due to the ongoing Covid19 pandemic has caused many organizations to seek alternative ways of keeping members involved and keeping skill development and en...thusiasm going. Our club has operated two virtual woodworking challenges in the past few months, but our efforts pale in comparison to what is now being organized by the large woodworking associations. If you wish to register for the AAW Virtual Symposium this weekend we have provided the link to registration at the end of the text in this posting. On the webpage for the Symposium, you will find the ability to register, see the schedule of sessions, see descriptions of the sessions and peruse the list of trade show vendors for this virtual event. Even the Trade Show portion of the Session will be conducted online. One of our local woodworking tool suppliers has always attended this show as a vendor and they will again participate in the Virtual Trade Show. Stockroom Supply from Wainfleet, ON will be doing demos on their Little Ripper, Round Ripper and Simple Circle Cutter. Scroll down the list of vendors to see how to link up to Ethan Moore’s demos for Stockroom Supply. Many other vendors will have information and some videos as well. The world has changed, at least for a while, but with the move toward virtual workshops and seminars, there are new things to consider. Some things are lost by not being able to attend gatherings like these in person, but, on the other hand, some people who could not find the time or finances to attend in-person events can now partake of the learning from the comfort of their home. Perhaps you will want to attend this virtual event. Here is the link: https://www.woodturner.org/

Virtual Kitchen Project Challenge Jim Pozzobon Coffee Grinders - the key to a great cup of coffee. Jim selected one of the most important items for the kitchen as his focus for this challenge. A coffee grinder ensures that fresh beans are ground just before the coffee maker is loaded with the grind and freshwater. Coffee aficionados testify that the step of freshly grinding your coffee makes a huge difference in the results. Wake up and smell the coffee with this project!

Virtual Kitchen Project Challenge DAVID SMITH Mortar and Pestle David ensured that his kitchen project would produce what is an essential tool that can be used to finely grind spices, flavourings, and even make gourmet dips for the informal socialization gatherings that often precede a full meal. In addition, a finely crafted mortar and pestle can nicely sit on the kitchen counter to add elegance to the beauty of a fine kitchen and let people know that you enjoy preparing food with care.
