Hedge fund Elliot Management has recently revealed they own $3.2 billion worth of AT&T common stock. Elliot Management wrote a restructuring plan to "enhance operational efficiency, boost the companys value, and return more capital to investors" (Shah 2019). It was noted that Elliot Management is strongly recommending the telecommunications company to sell off an under performing asset (DIRECTV), eliminate jobs, and hire low-wage contractors. These moves are intended to rel...ieve AT&Ts heavy debt load of nearly $200 billion which has been accumulating from recent acquisitions of DIRECTV and Time Warner Cable. Elliot Management believes that after implementing these changes, they can grow AT&Ts market value by 65%. By the end of 2021 they hope to bring AT&Ts stock up to $60/share, beating out their previous peak at roughly $55/share back in November 2000. The current share price has been floating around $37-38 since the time of this news - a significant jump from opening the year up at just $29/share. See more

NIBC News Update: Was the potentially largest IPO of 2019 placed on temporary hold, or permanently cancelled? Poor market conditions in Asia has caused Anheuser-Busch InBev, the worlds largest drink and brewing holdings company, to call off what could have been 2019s largest IPO. Their goal was to raise US$9.3B on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange to help pay off the US$100B in debt they currently hold. It was noted that pricing would have ranged between 40-47 Hong Kong dollars ...per share with an enterprise value of $54-63B. Lead banks that were guiding this IPO were Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan. This IPO would have further improved Morgan Stanleys reputation of being the number one equity offering bank in the Asia Pacific. On the other hand, JP Morgan would have had exposure necessary to potentially lift them up from being the eighth largest equity offering bank in Asia Pacific.
