This year - Fundraising is so very Different - I am joining with the Ottawa VIRTUAL initiative!! On Saturday November 7th - take a walk - for 6 minutes, with a mask and carrying weights - take and share photos to raise awareness and funds! Participating, Sharing and Donating helps so very much!
Well, Fall is certainly in the air, recently finished up the pickling, juicing apples (that will be jelly soon) and today creating Elderberry Syrup. Cooling now and will add some raw honey and pour into bottles. As is, good for 2 months refrigerated - longer if I add some 40% alcohol (Vodka, Brandy, Grand Marnier) Ingredients: Water, Elderberries, Whole Cloves, Fresh lemon juice/rind, Fresh ginger, Cinnamon chips, Raw honey and some alcohol in part of the final product. **Add-On** I decided to add a small amount of Grand Marnier to part of the batch primarily for its cognac and orange notes to enhance the flavor and extend the shelf life.
Sugar scrub in da house - Orange, Vanilla :) (they are all the same, just look a little different in color due to the lighting) Ingredients: Sugar, Sweet almond oil, Jojoba oil, Borage oil, Argan oil, Cocoa butter, Vitamin E and optiphen. The emulsifying ingredients are - Ewax and Stearic acid (both plant based)
A few items for Nursing week 2020 :)
Our paw balm is the bomb! Simple natural ingredients - Organic virgin coconut oil, Shea butter, white Beeswax & Vitamin E. Essential oils of Lavender and Chamomile. Gently massage into the paw pads, quickly absorbs - a little goes a long way.
I am making Lotion & Soaps and if time allows Lip care - Much Love to my colleagues who show up every day to make a difference to those we serve!
Nursing Week - May 11th - 17th, 2020 is The Year of the Nurse, I am working on some swag bags for my Front-line Nursing Colleagues and invite you to consider participating by donating a product, service or future experience. Let me know if you would like to contribute! Much appreciation!
I am looking for ideas for Nursing week (Coming up Mid-May) HOWEVER I would like to expand that to many FRONTLINERS too - as you may know, Nicholson Naturals makes stuff - what do you think would be most appreciated? Lotion, Soap, Scrubs, Serum??? Anyone want to join in on the fun? Let me know your thoughts! Much <3 #bigvirtualhugz
Mini-Update, FYI - all of our products are handmade, small batches and can do some custom too. I am working on some samples for -distribution and feedback. I am back to work - Nursing -tomorrow, so I can do what I love (being a Nurse), and then do what I also love (make Great stuff) in the evenings this week. I look forward to your suggestions and willingness to try new products! #staysafe #bigvirtualhugs
Botanicals in my 'Vintage Jars' from my Taunt Pat! <3
Soap and Lotions! Orange/Vanilla. Also 30 more of the Lavender/Chamomile/Orange 'Medic Relief' lotions. Next up some more intense repair 'Cream'.
Hand-Milled soap - Orange/Vanilla - once it cools I will add photo. **Smells awesome - looks kind of 'Rustic' needs to harden for a couple of days then it will be good to go.
Next up - by special request - Orange, Vanilla & Medic Relief lotions! Fortunate for the long weekend coming up :)
"Medic Relief" - a lotion that incorporates some of the healing properties that nature has to offer. All of the ingredients offer moisturizing, healing and anti-inflammatory properties perfect for frontline workers who need to take care of their own skin. A little goes a long way, this lotion has a quick absorption rate to allow us to get back to work quickly. This in NO way replaces the AHS recommendations and supplied on-site products.... The 1st 50 x 4 oz bottles are ready for Lisa Ritz to distribute to frontline workers. Ingredients: Oils: Argan, Jojoba, Vit E. Cocoa Butter. Glycerine. Essential oils: Lavender, Chamomile and Orange. To make it lotion: distilled water, stearic acid, cetyl alcohol, emulsifying wax, BTMS, optiphen
Good Sunday Afternoon! I have been away from this page for a bit as our family took time to grieve. Now we are -like everyone - dealing with Covid-19 and all the implications that come with that. One thing that I have been asked to do is create a lotion for our front-line workers, who wash, wash, wash and when they can't it is an alcohol-based cleanser that needs to be used to keep us all safe. ... This can be very hard on our skin (understatement) so I was asked to think about a lotion that we can use that may be healing and comforting - well I have been trying out a few recipes. I think I have a good combo of healing ingredients: Jojoba oil Argan oil Vitamin E Lavender essential oil Roman Chamomile essential oil Orange essential oil (for scent balance) 6Litres on the go for our Front Lines!
1st Batch of Elderberry Syrup! <3 Recipe includes Elderberries (obviously - and can be purchased at Soap and More) whole clove, cinnamon sticks, Lemon (juice and rind) raw honey (sourced from Alberta) Fresh ginger and a wee bit of vodka (recipe called for Rum but I do not like the taste) to increase shelflife.
Started some infusions tonight - Calendula, Arnica, Chamomile, Mullein, Yarrow, Marshmallow root and Patchouli. All in Virgin, 1st press, organic sunflower oil. In Amber mason jars :) Bring on 2020!
Happy New Year!Happy New Year!
