I rarely check this page but wanted to let you know I launched a new digital yoga collective earlier this month called leelapod with my friends David Choy and YuMee Chung. www.leelapod.com Earlier this year I sold my shares in OG and feel liberated from the stress of running a brick and mortar yoga studio in the midst (maybe just the start?) of a global pandemic. We believed a completely new paradigm to share yoga was necessary - one that was accessible and... affordable and gave the power back to the teachers - we dreamed it, heartstormed it, and then built it! We offer pay what you can livestream yoga classes with a growing roster of like minded teachers. In early June I resigned from a management position at Octopus Garden Yoga Centre. One week ago I sold my small stake in the business to Darcie, a trusted community member, yoga teacher and friend. I will support this transition in every way that I can, and will continue to teach my three online classes each week. To all of my students - a heartfelt thank you. To the fantastic team at OG - thank you. You are all my treasured teachers in so many ways. The truth is, I’m recov...ering from over 20 years in yogaland. I’ve worn all the hats at different times, and often, all of them at once. I’m exhausted. I never took time to heal from the intensity I experienced during my first 18 months at the studio. I witnessed ongoing emotional manipulation towards others that caused so much harm. I was regularly gaslit and repeatedly asked to stay silent. That period was very detrimental to my physical and emotional health, and I’m ready to move on. The past year has been filled with creativity and resilience at the studio. Both YuMee and I are proud of what we were able to accomplish alongside our business partner James, and with the support of an awesome team. I feel really optimistic about this current transition for everyone involved. I look forward to having more time for my yogic studies courses. I’m also un-planning my summer to be filled with healing warm rock Savasana to recharge my soul- ahhhh panels. Throughout this 30 month rollercoaster ride, I couldn’t have had a more loyal and trusted friend than YuMee by my side. I’m eternally grateful to have her in my life.

I have enrolled in a knowledge upgrade for Canada Day this year. Thanks to @rachelmcln and @lanasugarman for drawing my attention to this incredible resource from the University of Alberta. As a Kiwi, I have a good understanding the colonial and indigenous history of Aotearoa/ New Zealand - but recognize that I have enormous gaps in my knowledge of the history of the people and land that I’m privileged to live upon now. I have no excuse to be so uneducated about Canadian Indigenous history, other than I’ve been lazy. This course is free by the way, , or just $66 if you’re motivated by a certificate of completion, so there’s literally no excuse not to join me at all. I have well and truly run out of any content and motivation for Instagram. This was taken four years ago today inside a shopping mall in South Korea.
