Never get tired of this. Raspberries pretty much done but still have some strawberries and more blackberries. Have a great day! #abbotsford #urbanfarming

The masked harvesters showed up again yesterday. Alana (left, sp?) is a first year student in the UBC Land and Food Systems and joined Marina for the harvest. Great to have another Aggie on the team. First week harvesting our Tinty cabbage. It’s a beautiful little purple cabbage. Find it today at the @archwayurbanfarm booth at the @abbotsfordfarmandcountrymarket

Harvest Plant Harvest Plant....harvested 2 rows of carrots this week and rotated to spinach. Trying Mandolin and Goldeneye varieties from @osbornequalityseeds side by side to see which bolts last. We’ll find out soon enough.

The inspector (Vivian) showed up today while Orlando was transplanting eggplant and peppers. This bed had just been in snap peas and Orlando was pretty excited to see lots of nitrogen fixing rhizobium attached to the pea roots. It takes healthy soil to produce healthy crops. #oursoilourfuture #abbotsford #eggplant #tomatoes #peppers

Sour cherry picking day. We don’t spray our tree and the cherry fruit flies love these cherries. I find that if I pick early, we can harvest most of the cherries. If I leave them even a few days longer, they get destroyed. #cherries #nospray #urbanfarming #abbotsford @ Nicola Gardens

Is it just me or are there other people that get excited about a healthy worm population in their compost? #worms #urbanfarming #abbotsford

On a rainy day like today, I’m really glad I rigged up this structure for growing strawberries in a hoop house. Picking a small bowl full every day has been a daily highlight these past few weeks. #strawberries #abbotsford #urbanfarming @ Nicola Gardens

Can you see @nathanschmidt11 hanging out by the garden? What a great place to chill. And our purple peas are ready. And we picked our first carrot today. Tasted great but we’ll let them get a bit bigger. @ Nicola Gardens

Whether you farm thousands of acres or a few thousand square feet, one of the joys of farming is the morning crop inspections and sometimes a little sampling. Today I picked a few strawberries and some of our new Sugar Magnolia snap peas from @osbornequalityseeds. Yummy! It was nice to say hi to the ladybug hanging out on the eggplant too! Have a great Sunday! @ Nicola Gardens

Fact or fiction? Bees are required to open peonies? #peonies #abbotsford

Not your average tomato! This poppy plant sprouted right where I intended to plant tomatoes. Now I have both. #tomatoes #poppies #urbanfarming #abbotsford
