Yesterday morning in an interview on CBC, Dr. Williams, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, stated that massage therapy was not allowed in the locked dow...n areas, which was an inaccurate statement. Registered Massage Therapists are able to continue to practice in lockdown regions following the same precautions they followed throughout the course of the pandemic. On a call with the Ministry Emergency Operations Centre this morning, which typically includes Dr. Williams and other senior ministry officials, Michael Feraday, RMTAO Executive Director, pointed out that this comment was inaccurate and misleading, and requested that Dr. Williams provide clarification in the media. A statement will be made by the Government today in the media correcting this misstatement. In addition, the Ministry of Health has confirmed to other media sources and to health regulatory colleges that regulated health professionals are able to continue to operate. Regrettably this has caused confusion with the public and in the profession. The Ministry’s position is that regulated health professions like RMTs and all other 26 regulated health professions continue to provide essential services to their patients. The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario has provided strict guidelines for RMT that ensure safety. The RMTAO is advocating forcefully to ensure that this messaging is understood and reinforced.

Posted @withregram @nicdagher Posted @withregram @nicdagher It’s been about 2 weeks since @standrewschiro has welcomed me back as an RMT to the team here in Aurora! Especially during #covd times, I’m feeling incredibly grateful to be a part of such a solid group of health professionals. Working and exercising from home over the last 6 months sure has taken its toll on our bodies and minds. Whether it’s a recurring sports injury, nagging headaches, sciatic pain or a rela...xation massage to get you through stressful times, I am here to help. Your safety and comfort are my top priority from the moment you step into the treatment room. In addition to the measures Dr. Avery has implemented, here are the ways I am personally working to minimize your risk and ensure your utmost comfort and safety in the treatment room: Screening before entering the treatment room according to CMTO (provincial governing body) protocols 45 mins between clients for extensive sanitization and cleaning of all surfaces/places of contact Mandatory wearing of masks during treatment by practitioner and client Thorough hand washing and sanitization before and after treatment, or during if needed Designated area for your belongings Linens washed and dried on hottest setting after each patient Vinyl covered table and pillows for optimal sanitization Closed garbage bin for disposal of masks/PPE which is emptied after each patient Minimalism-keeping surfaces as clear as possible for thorough cleaning practices With the uncertainty of the pandemic, it’s important that we not undermine these safety protocols. We also know that now is likely the safest time to address any aches and pains before they threaten to dull the last precious months of your summer! If you have any questions or concerns about coming in for a treatment or suggestions as to how we can make this your most comfortable and safe experience, dm me @dare.tobewell and let’s chat.
