There is less than a week until we go to the polls. The forecast this week is a wet one with the possibility of the effects of a tropical storm later in the week - it sounds like the STORM OF CHANGE is coming. It is time for a new level of professionalism, accountability and representation. It’s time to prepare, to get ready, and to VOTE!

For those who are looking for more information about our candidates in district 2, there is an article today on page 2 of the Cape Breton Post. As I have been travelling around our district, I have been to over 700 homes now (if I haven’t been to yours I’m working on it) there are many common issues which are effecting our students on a daily basis; bullying and harassment, equal opportunity for each individual student, the feeling of the community being disconnected to our schools, extra curricular activities. These issues are not being discussed by other candidates - I cannot understand why - these are important issues that have to be addressed! I do believe it reenforces the importance of having a school board representative who is not aware of the issues, but as a parent, understands and lives them!

Thank you to everyone who attended the Meet and Greet on Friday, and those who sent well wishes. I would like to thank the talented Mike MacInnis, Christine Campbell and Jeannie Beks as well as the young talent who performed. It was a wonderful night, your support and interest in the upcoming election means more than words can say!

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia issued a walk about challenge to all the participants in municipal and school board elections this year - I took the challenge and while I’m currently in the lead - there is at least one participant who is very close behind - good thing I’m planning on doing a lot of walking this weekend. I still have many doors to visit in our district and I’m still along way from the one million steps! Don’t forget the meet and greet at the Mabou Hall tonight - I look forward to seeing everyone there!
