Merry Christmas Eve! I’m truly thankful for all of the support this year, AND especially this year! Whether you’ve shared and liked posts, purchased gift certificates and/or photography sessions know you have supported and also helped put the food on our table. Without your support of a local business like myself, I am not sure where I would be. I want to extend my gratitude for everything that this year has brought to the table, even though a lot of it was unexpected... and uncertain. This is my Christmas wish... At the risk of sounding wildly redundant when it comes to downloading your photos from the galleries... PLEASE download and back up your galleries as soon as you are able to. If you have a gallery in your email or a link that I’ve sent you this year from June going forward- download them The PASS galleries are not guaranteed past the first of the year from what I am understanding. I am currently in the midst of migrating to another gallery platform and transferring all galleries, this can take up to 8 weeks... Another Holiday sneak peek of the mini sessions that happened over the weekend. I was fully booked! I had two locations and even ended my minis on Sunday by going Christmas tree hunting. So excited to get these galleries out to you guys! I’ll make this quick, thank you so much for coming out to my minis this year, I truly appreciate and am so thankful for your support! AND Guess what?! I am already starting to plan next years Christmas minis... if there’s something cool you’d want for next years holiday minis, I want to hear it!

Not long ago I drove 6 hrs up north to see family I haven't seen in a long while. Unfortunately the weather impacted my visit to just a one night stay, but it truly felt like no time had passed. Seeing and meeting my cousins children warmed my heart, and they reminded me of the visits my cousins and I would have as children together.

A little bittersweet to think that Friday’s wedding was my last wedding of 2020. When M+P came to me we talked about their visions and what they wanted out of their wedding day. When April/May came around, they came to me again and said they weren’t sure what to do about their wedding in June so they ended up postponing until November. I’m so glad they still went through and tied the knot, congratulations on such a beautiful day

Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t. If I told myself 5 years ago I would be where I am today in my photography career, I would not have believed myself. I look back at old photos with bittersweet feelings, sometimes I cringe at my edits, but mostly I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Everyday is a new learning day. To know we are th...e hardest on ourselves, it is understandable to want to quit when you start to compare yourself with other talented photographers. Not only that, but when Covid hit, it really made me wonder if this was a career that is needed in the world. OF COURSE IT IS these are memories in the making, how will we remember 2020?! Some are already saying goodbye to 2020 but to me it’s not the worst year.. in fact the worst year of my life will always remain in 2012 when I lost my sister. I find the worst years of our lives are the most uncomfortable. We experience loss, pain, and struggle, we are challenged to our very core, and we adapt the best we can and that is how we grow stronger. 2020 made me want to quit so many times, but moving forward in positive motion starts with a single thought. I CAN. I can remember why I started photography. Simple. Taking it one day at a time. If your passion overrides the fears you have, one day you will not remember those fears. You will focus on all of the good, and all of your goals, and all of the creative work... just one day at a time. And that’s how you grow 5 years later. You keep doing your best everyday, even if some days you don’t feel like it. Because one day, 5 years later you think.. holy shit, this is my real job. Yes I questioned photography being a real job for so long.. I called it a journey. A WILD + surreal realization here guys I am currently booking into January 2021, & that doesn’t leave much time until Our babe makes it’s arrival.. SURPRISE we didn’t find out the gender! . In the coming months I plan to work fully in January and February, but once March comes around I’m not sure how uncomfortable, Grumpy and super pregnant I’ll truthfully feel I am taking 12 weeks maternity leave, because let’s face it, You can’t plan around wedding season.. and whe...n you do, covid happens and moves all your wedding to the next year anyways. I got this, and I’m going to rock it! . A quick note that my 2021 prices and packages are changing, so if you want to get a gift certificate now is the time, and might I add perfect for Christmas gifts.. the gift of memories I think we need that more than ever after this year! . Cake smash session with Hali! So wild to think I was right there capturing her birth a year ago. Happy First birthday to this little girl!

I am so happy that some couples still went through with their wedding this year; of course changing their plans and guest numbers accordingly. B + A's wedding was in September, an absolute perfect day for weather, and a great day to get married! I drove to quaint Port Elgin, taking the scenic route and backroads. B + A both got ready in their stunning historic home, without even seeing each other first (now that's good communication!) They got married in a little white chur...ch on a country side road, I pinched myself a couple times it was so perfect. There were cards displayed on the church pews, well wishes and congratulations from their friends and other family that couldn't be there. This year things were very different for the wedding industry, many couples having intimate weddings or eloping. As another September bride myself, I can say our guest list numbers changing had me thinking it wouldn't feel like the day I imagined -- it was still perfect in every way. See more

Not your typical lifestyle session.. but this is about to become more apart of my lifestyle A couple months ago I brought Bow to Cathy Lehtonen-SafeK9 Professional Dog Services, for those long wedding work days. I had anxiety thinking about how I would find someone to watch our energetic quirky German shepherd for over 12 hours a day sometimes... well I can only say Cathy’s facility, expertise in safety and knowledge is more than I ever expected and I could leave Bow t...here with assurance he would be well taken care of. We talked the day of our consult and I said I’d love to come take photos of her guests one day I mean who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by a bunch of k9s.. that’s a dream. I went over there yesterday and snapped a few photos.. and After a couple hours I left with a part-time gig! I’m so excited to spend a few hours a week here at Safe K9! Check out some of the guests!

Moody + playful. You can have variety in your sessions, it doesn’t have to be all serious, or all laughs.. but darn the ones that laugh a lot sure make my face hurt after a session. Had an amazing and chilly engagement session with K + B. They took me to the coolest spot. I always love shooting in a location I’ve not been before sometimes it challenges me to get creative, and some sessions (like this one) just feed those creative sparks even more!

So many little pumpkins arriving next spring... do you think there will be another baby boom? Austin started his last round of trade school this week (it’s all online except Wednesday’s ). Bit chilly today eh? Heading out for some last fall sessions before the leaves are totally gone! I can't get over how amazing the light was for this engagement session. If you haven't heard, I am doing holiday mini sessions! November 21st Stayner location is fully booked.... But there is still room for the Lafontaine location on December 6th. Fall session editing has been in full swing, and with the rain this week I am feeling optimistic I will get lots done! Sharing some captures from this beautiful family session.

Fall is by far the most popular season for sessions, and for good reason-- the colours are in peak and its a beautiful time of the year. Also, it is my busiest season, sometimes I wonder how the heck I get through it mentally.. so if I haven't thanked you yet for your patience, I'm thanking you now. This October I have taken just about 7000 photos for fall sessions so far. If I take a little longer to reply, it is most definitely because I am working away on client sessions. The only downside is when I am in a session off site I cannot be editing at the same time. I had one office day this week, and Austin will have to wait for me to come out from my editing den..see you in November hunny! Good thing its hunting season. Last summer I met this rad couple through baseball, little did I want to admit my work was a lot of weekends and I didn’t get around to playing as much as I anticipated. . It was such an honour to capture a + b’s wedding last weekend in Port Elgin. They both got ready in their century home, and I loved every single minute capturing their day I loved all of the details of their home and the intimate ceremony at this cute little white church down a dirt road. The best part about family photos is you don't have to be stiffly posed, or make the kids do something they don't want to. Let's face it, making your child who isn't fancy about their photo being taken to begin with can be a challenge. It is easier to go with the flow and make it an adventure, always on the move and on the go. Thanks for having me document your growing years!

I’ve known this wonderful couple for a few years now, I met them through my cousins, and they’ve even joined us at a few family dinners and still stuck around so they obviously like our crazy! . When Matt and Maddy got engaged pre covid, I was so excited for them I was especially thrilled that they asked me to document their wedding next year. . This session was , and it sparked something new inside of me When Maddy said that Matt wanted to get a few shots with the car.. ...she didn’t really tell me it was a classic #1974charger that had been in immaculate condition also this beauty has been in the family since day one! May I add that the colour of this car is everything that represents my warm editing style BONUS! Rarely do I work on my own personal photos, I always seem to push them aside because there is always other work to be done. Yesterday I finally got the chance to sit down and restore an old photograph that my Grandad gave me last time I saw him. He asked if I could blow up this 3x5 (a scanned image onto photo paper) to approximately a 10x12. I really wanted to clean up the image and some of its imperfections, but still keep the originality of this photograph. This is my first attempt at restoration. Here is a before and after!

They say farm life is the best life, and I just have to say-- look how happy this sweet family is to be dancing around dodging paddies in the horse field! I love how the most beautiful moments in life are in the simple + slow. They’re when we pause long enough to look at the textures of the fabrics we’re weaving; that’s what art is, right? It’s the pausing just long enough to see the beauty.. and listening to the horses whinny.

There’s no time to be bored in a world as beautiful as this. We have added more chickens to the coop.. I scheduled this post about two weeks ago .. we lost our Randy the rooster in a battle to fight for his hens coyotes win all the time. The free range privilege has ended for these girls for now. Chicken life.

We all want to be able to look back at our photographs and have a sense of comfort, nostalgia, and familiarity. Someone told me the other day that there is something so different about my work. I really didn't understand what they meant, so they continued to explain: 'There is a feeling when you look at the images you capture for people and they are so natural.' I don't really know what the secret is.. to me this is how I have always worked: You invite me into your lives... for a few hours, and treat me as an old friend. I spend time with you while you live your life, and I document the beauty of your time. Maybe your family spends time together in your home, or going out to the beach, on bush walks, river floats, classic truck rides I don't know exactly what your day looks like, but I would really love to document it for you..

Sharing this b+w capture from this beautiful wedding out west last summer. I feel like the weather has finally helped me get out of this funk that I think I have been in for quite some time. Feeling a tad guilty I haven't posted on facebook in a while. Honestly, not much is new besides gardening, housework, chores + more chickens added to the coop- micro farm life over here.. next is a goat and If my mother-in-law sees this post I give her full permission to gift us a goat f...or my birthday-- do they jump on cars, or only some of them do? Who knows goats!? LOL. Anyways, I am still taking pictures + getting my camera out as much as possible, and doing some much needed admin and rebranding/website work. This has definitely been one of the hardest times for my business and of course I am feeling for so many other small businesses. Thank you for supporting me always, I am a lucky girl to be able to do what I do. Now I just have to wait until I can get back out there and do it again! I am sad that this years plans have been turned upside down for many. It has made us uncomfortable, it's made us ask questions we never thought we would ask, it's made us doubt anything and everything. BUT... I believe it has made us pause for a moment, like this moment here... when I look at this photo, it just makes me want to wrap my arms around everyone that means the world to me.

There was a plan for a special couple to wake up in Jamaica this morning I was also going to let the lush tropics fuel my creativity for their wedding I was about to shoot this week.. but it is apparent that there were other plans for the world. As soon as I realized it was Sunday (Caesar Sunday I mean.. I made a caesar for Austin + I and ended up going through some old boxes + other stuff).. in fact I am now diving into year 2016 of my hard drives...and since this week was... supposed to be a week of celebrating love for L+O, I figured why not share some of their first maternity session. It’s so crazy how technology has advanced over time, this was shot with a canon rebel series Since I've upgraded bodies, and switched to Sony. Although this is a throw back to 2016, it is still a beautiful memory, and everyone starts somewhere! I am saddened that I won’t get to document this dream day for L+O as originally planned.. but going forward I know their day will be so amazing and so full of love. Happy Sunday, Bless XO! For all of you mamas that are unable to have a photographer at your birth or fresh 48, here are some helpful hints for you to take great photos on your phone or with your own camera! -Take them during the day when there is plenty of window light. -TURN OFF the hospital lights! Use the window light only, if you can! ... -Position your baby facing the light coming through the window. -Don't shoot towards the window. Shoot with the window to your side or to your back, but be careful not to block the light coming through! - Don't photograph aiming up the babies nose. Shoot down, from above or the side of the baby. - Get close! Thats where the details are! Fresh skin and tiny fingers and toes are important! -Capture the emotions of your partner with your baby -Download the Lightroom App on your phone and edit your photos there! Black and white are AMAZING for birth shots Saw this on another photographers page this morning and thought it was a great idea! I wanted to also add: Ask your nurse to swaddle the baby for you. NURSES ARE THE BEST SWADDLERS! TAG your expecting mama friends! We ALL, professionals and individuals, should be doing our part to help one another. Giving advice, lending a helping hand, and doing what is best for one another. This post was not created to gain business, or promote my business in anyway. Just to share a wonderful idea that another photographer had. By adding tips, and taking out some things I wouldn't do personally, was a way for me to reach out and help the expecting mothers in my community!

J + A are expecting their first babe this May & I was the lucky one to capture their lifestyle maternity session in their beautiful home. Meeka their beagle was too cute, but I couldn't fit her in my camera bag... Enjoy! :)

A favourite of mine, is when the bride and groom finally get a chance to be alone together after the ceremony, I notice the shift in energy changes and wow it is really awesome to be able to capture the couple in their true element in that moment.
