Welcome Everyone To This Weeks Freaky Friday This weeks case is going to be on the infamous Zodiac Killer. The Zodiac Killer was no ordinary murderer. Rather than avoiding the spotlight, he craved media attention and seemed to enjoy taunting police with cryptic notes and clues as he left a trail of death behind him. The Zodiac Killings took place in 1968 and 1969 when five people were murdered in Northern California. He claimed in letters to police that there were dozens ...of more victims, although that was never confirmed. After his killings took place, that’s when local newspapers started to receive cryptic letters from someone anonymously claiming to be responsible for the slayings, as well as including details about the crimes that only the killer would know. The killer took the steps to ensure the messages were widely shared with the public, by threatening to go on a kill rampage, unless a cipher was printed in the San Francisco Examiner. The newspaper said the letters had contained coded messages explaining the killer’s motive, as well as a key to help readers decipher his identity. This is the Zodiac speaking, he wrote in an August letter. Authorities did not crack the code revealing his name.To this day, no suspects have been confirmed in the case. The San Francisco Police Department said the investigation still remains ongoing. ALUMNI THURSDAY Anna Johnson, CJ Class of 2014 _________________________________________ Anna graduated in 2014 from the Criminology stream. She continued her education at the University of Guelph, and completed her Master's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice Policy in 2016. She is currently a 4th year PhD Candidate in the Sociology department at the University of Guelph, completing SSHRC-funded research on Specialized Indigenous Courts in Canada (Toronto) and Austral...ia (Brisbane). Anna chose Nipissing for her undergraduate degree because it was clear to her that Nipissing really cared about their students. Not only were there a lot of interesting and diverse classes taught by professionals with applied experience, who by first year new her name, but she noted Kindra coming in on a Saturday to answer her questions about the program making her feel even more confident about her decision. She said she can't emphasize enough how much she appreciated her undergraduate experience at Nipissing, especially now being at a larger institution and knowing what their undergraduate experience looks like. The atmosphere at Nipissing and in the Criminal Justice program provided her with the opportunity to thrive and learn skills that you do not have the chance to learn in classes of 500-800 people. Her advice to other CJ students and graduates? She noted that the fourth year professional development course is unique to the CJ program at Nipissing and provides great skills for the future, so take as much out of the course as you can. Also, she recommended that students take full advantage of the relationships you are able to build with faculty. The connections you make with professors can be very important for your future success. And even if you feel like it is too late, it is never too late to reach out to faculty and ask them for advice, they are there to help you! Thank you, Anna! Congratulations on all of your success.

TODAY ON FREAKY FRIDAY WE WILL OUTLINING THE CASE ON SUSAN WRIGHT Susan Lucille Wright was an American woman from Houston, Texas. At age 26, in 2003, she was featured in the newspapers for stabbing Jeff Wright, her husband, 193 times and then burying him in their backyard. She met her husband in 1997, while working as a waitress in Galveston, TX. They were married the next year while she was 8 and a half months pregnant with their first child, a son named Bradley. A cou...ple of years later, they had a second child, a daughter named Kailey. During their first few years of marriage, Susan Wright claimed that her husband had abused her and used illegal substances. In an attempt to clean up the crime, she tried painting the walls of the bedroom. She also went to the police station the following day to report a domestic abuse incident and obtained a restraining order against Jeff, in order to explain his disappearance. Susan’s recent parole review date was just back in July of 2020 in hopes of reducing her sentence. Welcome to Another FREAKY FRIDAY This week we will be focusing on the disappearance of Natalee Holloway Natalee Holloway was an 18 year old girl, who went to Aruba to celebrate her high school graduation with members of her senior class, when she suddenly disappeared in 2005. She was last seen leaving a bar and getting into a car with a Dutch national who was 17 years old at the time, along with his two friends. And that was the last time she was ever seen. They remained ...prime suspects in the case for years, as there stories continued to remain inconsistent, constantly changing overtime. However, they were never charged in connection to her disappearance. It’s been nearly 15 years since her disappearance, and Natalies family is still adamant on finding answers. I want to know your thoughts. Here is a link to look into further details of the case! https://www.google.ca//natalee-hollowa/story%3fid=67135633
