Nipissing Veuve River Snowmobile Club 16.07.2021

Congratulations to one of the hardest working and dedicated volunteers in the business, well deserved Moise.!!

Nipissing Veuve River Snowmobile Club 11.07.2021

Each year, close to 6,000 volunteers build and maintain OFSC snowmobile trails for all of us to enjoy. All of our volunteers continue to overcome many challenge...s to contribute to the recreational, social and economic well-being of their communities. Normally, we are able to celebrate these accomplishments in person at our AGM, but we were unable to gather this past year and then we were all swamped with keeping trails available during COVID uncertainties. However, we have not forgotten that our 2020 recipients still deserve their hard-earned recognition and it’s never too late to do it. So with our apologies for the delay, we are honouring them throughout March, on social media as part of our end of season Volunteer Appreciation initiatives. Each of the five major awards received by districts will be highlighted individually and recipients sent their award plaque. Next, the OFSC will announce our provincial recipients for 2020 in a provincial media release and congratulate them personally in a special Zoom call. Please join us in celebrating the district winners of the 2020 Outstanding OFSC Safety Ambassador. This award is presented to an individual, or group of individuals, in recognition of outstanding achievement and contribution to the overall safety of organized snowmobiling through one or more of the following areas: Promotion, Education and/or Partnerships. So with the season finishing up, I'm curious how Covid affected everyone's season. With many trails closed down for extended time, did you still ride a lot of km's? We were able to do 2,151kms this season basically staying within the Sudbury area, no overnights, and only 1 restaurant stop. Feel free to post your seasons kms and pics or comments on this seasons conditions. Here's to hoping everything gets back to "normal" soon and we will do it all again next season!!

With the meltdown, we have parked the groomer and started closing down trails. Please check the ITG map for the latest updates, but I fear this is the end of a season that started late and is ending early. A huge thankyou to all volunteers who helped get the trails in shape this season, the groomer operators who kept them in great condition and of course our landowners who allow us to use their property for our enjoyment.

Well that's a wrap, the snow melted faster then the Maple Leafs in the playoffs. All of our trails are now closed, a big thank you to our volunteers and a HUGE thank you to our landowners for allowing us permission to have a trail on their property.

It's the long weekend and the groomer has been running non-stop getting the trails ready. Unfortunately our neighboring clubs trails in the North Bay/Parry Sound health unit will remain closed. However most of the trails in the Sudbury health unit are open and there are many riding opportunities through this region. We have noticed a definite increase in traffic in our area, so please stay aware out there and ride safe this weekend.

Riders choice trail of the week, NVRSC C213 St. Charles to Lake Nepewassi is the perfect combination of a gently rolling trail winding through pine forests and wide open logging roads, freshly groomed with a good snow base thanks to last weekends fresh snow.

Members and the LAND OWNER were out installing pickets and signage along the pole line on the D104 north of Warren today. Many people are under the assumption that hydro corridors are public or on crown land. This is not always true. If you see a no trespassing sign or private property sign along a hydro corridor, please take it seriously. Often times hydro has an easement across private property. We appreciate the land owner granting us access and as of now is satisfied with our efforts. Please stay within the pickets through this section of trail, or the D104 will be lost...THERE IS NO RE-ROUTE AVAILABLE, thank-you.

The snow is sure a welcome site today. Our groomer has been busy all week. Unfortunately we will not be grooming again until late Sunday, since we will be trying to help with another irate landowner. Our club members will instead, be out putting up more pickets and signage on a part of the D104 north of Warren along the pole line to keep sledders from trespassing on private property. Please ride safe this weekend, please stay on trail and refer to the ITG map for the latest trail updates.

Swamps continue to be the issue. Members have been out flooding some of the swamps on the north side of the D104. We have also been flooding the Veuve river on the NV502. Ice conditions are marginal and not good for the groomer to pass. With some colder nights coming, we hope to make a first pass from St. Charles to Trout Lake later this week

We know you're as upset as we are seeing posts about trespassing and snowmobilers going off marked trails. WE NEED YOUR HELP in showing our support and appreci...ation to our AMAZING LANDOWNERS who generously donate their land each winter for all of us to enjoy. If you're reading this, we know you likely aren't part of the problem but we hope you can be a part of the solution by holding your riding friends to the same standard! Thank you for riding marked trails and doing your part to ensure we have trails to enjoy for many years. #friendfriday See more

Throughout the Christmas holidays, members have been busy packing, removing downed trees, brushing and installing signage on the trails. Many areas have lots of underlying water which is still not frozen and swamps are one of the biggest issues. Trails remain closed and always refer to the interactive trail guide for trail updates. If the trail shows red, leave it in the shed!!

Some good information for sledders who want to do some touring this season.

https://www.ofsc.on.ca//ofsc-requests-cooperation-from-sn/ Please share this message and more importantly, keep your sleds parked for the time being. At this time, ALL trails on the ITG are RED - in other words, NOT AVAILABLE! https://ofsc.evtrails.com/#
