Kingston Niten Kai Kenjutsu

Hi all. Head instructor Mike made a purchase over the past couple of weeks, and it finally came in. We now have a functional katana for the club, and will hopefully be able to do some tameshigiri over the summer. We'll have more information on the functionality in a few days when Mike has tested the blade with cutting some actual targets. As it sits, just out of the box, blade looks sharp, and fittings appear to be tight, very excited to try it out.

Yes we are still training and yes we are accepting new students!

So our first weekend back in the dojo after lockdown 2.0 was great, and the new location is amazing. It's really nice not having to worry about ceiling height.

It felt great to be back on the mats again and the new location is amazing! Thanks everyone for a wonderful first jiu-jitsu and kenjutsu class. Loving the layout and the nice high ceilings. See everyone Sunday!

So good news everybody, now that we're back in the provincial framework with a green status, we are back in the dojo. Classes are at the same times but we are at a new location. You'll find us training out of the YGK Combatives Group dojo at 720 Progress Ave. Of course all current and necessary Covid-19 protocols will be in place.

Practicality Practicality in martial arts. This is something I have been thinking on since we could get back into the dojo to train in early October 2020. Mainly, does what we train in have to be practical? A little background on this. Hi all, so tonight is the last official outdoor class for this year. As of Friday October 2 we will be back in the dojo. Class tonight will be at Queen's West Campus at 6:30pm. As usual we will be following current pandemic guidelines for the class.
