In March 1988 IIV started touring to support the album, but by May the band had lost support of their record company, who cancelled the western Canadian dates of the tour. In June 1988, due to internal and external pressures, Gary Smith left the band he had founded in 1981. IIV continued to perform occasionally until 1991, when the band recorded and produced a video f...or Tonight. However, without Gary in the band, the remaining members had lost their momentum and enthusiasm. You Want It, You Got It is Bryan Adams’ second studio album, released on 21 July 1981 by A&M Records. This was the album that established the sound that Adams has retained throughout his recording career. Unlike the debut album where Adams and Vallance played most of the instruments themselves, You Want It You Got It was recorded live in the studio. It was recorded at Le Studio Moran Heights, Quebec over a two-week period during the spring of 1981 and was mixed in New Yo...rk City. The album was originally to be titled "Bryan Adams Hasn't Heard Of You Either" (due to critics' indifference to his first album and singles) but Adams' sense of humour didn't make it past the gatekeepers at the record company, who opted for the safer title. The whole title came from a character in an American cartoon called Snagglepuss. He's a great little creature, a lion, and every time there's trouble he flees, uttering 'Exit... stage left' or 'Exit... stage right'. But the fact of the matter was that the album cover picture was taken from stage left. And coincidentally that's the direction in which Snagglepuss runs most of the time. Happy Birthday, Bruce! This photo is from April 23/2016, Brooklyn NYC. Bruce opened with Purple Rain, a tribute to Prince after his death. I made it into the pit and was standing beside Thom Zimny (Bruce’s go-to film director) most of the show. When it was over, I turned to him and jokingly said, well, that was only OK!. He looked at me like I was crazy! ... I’ve seen Springteen, I think, seven times including Springsteen On Broadway, where I sat 7th row centre. Springteen has inspired so many performers (ones you wouldn’t expect) because he’s THE BEST IN ROCK’N’ROLL!!
