Check out these 3 videos that our staff at NCS created! Not only are they going live to teach their students and stay in touch with them but they are also making these extra videos for students to watch at any time. They have created a music video featuring a song parody, a science experiment with elephant toothpaste and a puppet show with Forky and Buzz! A big thank you to all of the parents who have been helping their children with school work, making sure they are online ...for classes and everything else that you have done to support your child and our school! #NitonCentralhasheart #teachingmatters #ABlearningathome https://youtu.be/cRug2wNH6OQ https://youtu.be/DcsYi2duUOM

Dear Parents/Guardians, Please read the letter form GYPSD Superintendent of Schools. Click on "EDUCATION" ... Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD) wants to ensure students continue learning despite the cancellation of classes. Each teacher in GYPSD will use Google Classroom to deliver content, links, and lessons to students. In order to access this content, students will need a device connected to the internet. Please note, if you have a desktop personal computer, laptop, iPad or iPhone at home, chances are that it will work just fine for your student to access Google Classroom. If you do not own a device, GYPSD is working with BCOM Computers out of the city to provide reasonably priced devices to our families. Please follow this link to see the BYOD flyer and order a Chromebook for your child. If purchasing a Chromebook for your child will cause financial hardship to your family, please fill out this form. GYPSD will make every effort to provide a Chromebook on loan during this time. If you do not have access to the internet, we will provide hard copies that can be picked up at the school with a pre-arranged appointment. Our technology team will support parents, staff, and students who are not familiar with the platform. More information on the Google Classroom platform and training opportunities will come in the next few days. As previously announced, we have scheduled pick up for your children’s belongings according to times below. Included with your children’s materials we have chosen to include the following: A package of educational materials to support your children’s continued learning from home. Report Cards: Please note that these were current as of March 13th, 2020, and pre-date the existing order closing school. Our BYOD Chromebook Flyer: This flyer offers discounted prices on Chromebooks from BCOM Computers for GYPSD Students. Dear Parents/Caregivers of GYPSD Students: As of this afternoon, March 15, 2020, the Chief Medical Officer of Alberta has directed the cancellation of classes in k-12 and post-secondary institutions. All classes within Grande Yellowhead Public School Division are cancelled - effective immediately and until further notice. Do not send your children to school. All buses are cancelled. All school buildings are closed to students and community. ... Minister LaGrange has announced that she will be sending an open letter to all parents in which she and her team will have considered responses to questions all parents and school jurisdictions are asking at this time. In a letter to school boards, following her press conference this afternoon, the minister stated the following: "We expect every student to receive a final mark and that students will progress to their next grade level next year. However, provincial assessments, such as provincial achievement tests will be cancelled as of this time. Diploma exams essential for post-secondary acceptance will continue. We are confident that every student who is eligible to graduate from Grade 12 this year will graduate. Staff will be expected to attend school to prepare on how to deliver learning for students." We will continue to seek details. As we get more information, we will let you know. The most up-to-date information on the COVID-19 situation in Alberta can be found on alberta.ca. Respectfully, Board Chair Brenda Rosadiuk and Superintendent Carolyn Lewis.
