Last night the Meadows Fire Department was presented with a new AED (automatic external defibrillator) which was donated by Ed & Elaine Bannister, family & frie...nds, in memory of their grandson Braeden Kyle Bannister. Braeden is the son of Jeff & Angie Bannister; Jeff is from Meadows and Angie from Irishtown. Braeden was a junior firefighter in the Lantz fire department in Nova Scotia, his hometown. He was an honour student at Hants East Rural High School and his dream was to pursue a career in fire fighting. Braeden was also an accomplished athlete who competed in baseball and hockey and was an excellent teammate on and off the ice and ball field. Braeden loved to spend time in Newfoundland with his grandparents and extended family partaking in fishing, hunting, camping and enjoying nature. Braeden was devoted to his little brother Kevin, they were buddies and Braeden was a patient and protective big brother. Braeden had great empathy for others and had a special way of connecting with people especially those that needed a helping hand. His wide smile and even bigger personality endeared him to others who recognized his caring nature. Braeden Bannister passed away on November 1, 2019 due to cardiac arrest. In his memory, several AEDs have been donated by community members to local schools in Nova Scotia to honour his commitment to helping others. The Meadows Fire Department was the most recent recipient of a new ZOLL AED in Braeden’s memory. This is a specialized piece of equipment, a huge asset to the department which will accompany the fire fighting team on all of their 80-100 calls annually. Always Stay Humble & Kind Braeden Kyle Bannister, in his short but incredibly meaningful life, exemplified these virtues of character, and a strong desire to give back to others. His legacy lives on every day and will assist in saving the lives of others. Thank you to Braeden and the Bannister Family & friends for this very valuable donation. See more

Update: if attending, please follow public distancing/masks guidelines. We are planning a cruise in Bob and Daisy’s honour tomorrow, Sunday. Meet at Barrett’s ...on Hamilton Ave around 3 and leave after the service (3:30ish) to cruise past Bobs old homestead in Seal Cove, then onto Holyrood where we can split up. Polish up your vehicles. This is not an organized event, more of a show of respect. If you partake, please follow regular traffic rules. See more
