We lost a giant of the faith this morning, a father in this house and to many of us personally. Tony Ling was a prophet, a poet, a passionate lover of Christ a...nd His church, and a lover of The Word of God. The nation of Canada, among so many other nations, is forever changed because of this man’s faithfulness. He could cause his listeners to fall in love with the ‘rich tapestry’ of the word of God as he would open the scriptures and ‘bring out treasures both new and old’. 'True worship is not singing songs, clapping, and raising hands in the presence of God. True worship is not shouting and jumping. It may include all those things, but true worship is laying down your life for God....Worship is giving myself utterly, totally, unconditionally to God.' from The Lion and the Lamb: Volume One Tony exemplified those words to so many of us and he will be greatly missed. We enjoyed fishing together years ago, lots of curries, movies and late night chats, but perhaps one of the most profound memories I have of Tony was as he ministered on the book of Revelation, to a tiny room of bible school students, the day his wife Hazel was going to pass on to glory, and he said death, used to be a roaring lion that could devour us; but because of the work of Christ, death is now simply a toothless cat that opens up the door and beckons us into the presence of God. Death where is your sting, grave where is your victory. To an outstanding minister of the gospel, a prophet, a friend, we owe an immense debt of gratitude. We will honour your legacy by continuing to proclaim and put into practice the rich revelation you illuminated for us so well. Enjoy now, the fullness of that which you saw in part on earth. We love you Tony, Steve Our heartfelt prayers and sincere gratitude Matthew and Ruth for so excellently caring for Tony these last many years. Love and prayers for your family.
