A spectacular juvenile male Pine Grosbeak. He's growing into his red colours. I like how the little Redpolls were looking up to him like a big brother.

John the Bird-Spotter just saw this big Red Tailed Hawk on the telephone pole. I grabbed the camera and ran through Room 19, to the deck so I would be closer for a pic. He swooped to the ground, but the Chippie was too quick for him.

I blame this on Global Dimming, as it's getting worse as the years go by. I'm more than happy to do my part in this life and be a "Cleaner", not a "Disgusting Litterer". Nice to know that the Karma Gods will get these idiots.

A Wawa Landmark - Mel-ere Hotel / Big Bird Inn. I only have one memory of the Big Bird. When we first moved to Wawa, Gary & Vicki Mathison took us on a "Wawa Pub Crawl" . The Big Bird Bar, Wawa Motor Inn Lounge, then last call at the Lakeview Hotel's bar, The Pit. Fun times!!

Here's another Heyden landmark filled with great memories. In the 70's, we used to hitchhike from Island Lake to the restaurant. Coffee, fries, or Ayla Douville's thick homemade toast. (That's all we could afford on an allowance. ) We loved to visit with Debbie Douville. She was ALWAYS working. She taught me my very first napkin fold - Cute little crowns that stood on the table. Since then, I must have folded millions of napkins in my 20 years of waitressing. Easiest fold? Stuff the napkin in the wine glass! Hah! Of course I learned all the X-rated folds over the years.
