Northern Manitoba Mining Academy 10.12.2020

The NMMA participated in the Northern Connections Job Fair last Wednesday. Here are a few photographs of our table at the event. We had two lucky winners -- Edna and Christie -- take home first aid kits from our draw. Matthew and Bonnie each took home a consolation prize of a set of "Think and Be Safe" playing cards. We're excited to advise that the NMMA has been granted recognition from The Government of Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) as an agency able to prov...ide Flagperson training in Manitoba. The Flagperson course consists of four hours of classroom training and (approximately) one hour of a practical/hands-on component where students get to try actual flagging of vehicle(s). The practical component is a mandatory piece of Flagperson training. If you are interested in taking a Flagperson course, please contact [email protected] for more information. NOTE: 1. Flagperson certificates are valid for three years from date of issue; and 2. You must be 18 years of age to work as a Flagperson.

Over the past year (since January 1, 2016), the NMMA has been very busy with a wide variety of safety training. Since December 2016 we've had a number of Standard First Aid classes (our next two-day class is scheduled for February 27th and 28th), two Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support classes and a National Food Safety course (with two more scheduled over the next month). At the end of January we're putting on a WHMIS course, a Flagperson course, a Mental Health First Aid (a two day course) and teaching students about Safe Workers of Tomorrow. If you are interested in any type of safety training -- including psychological health -- consider contacting the NMMA for information on how we can help you because it's important to remember, tomorrow is your reward for working safely today!
