This week we have been busy co-creating ball runs, beading towers and catapults! In play school we are always looking for ways to use ordinary items in extra-ordinary ways; this is the essence of creative play!

Being Helper of the Day is a role your children look forward too! Being a leader, a decider, and a helper allow the children to work on both leadership and service skills. And let’s face it, that special helper sticker at the end of the day is just exciting!

When your cars need to be washed, an impromptu car wash is created! Complete with what one child described as scrubber dubbers! When environments are responsive to children’s interests and inquiries, children are able to develop their ideas both alone and with others!

Peer relationships in early childhood provide important opportunities for children to develop life long social skills such as empathy, co-operation, and problem solving. In their interactions children also learn about themselves, serving as a foundation to developing self-concept and self-esteem. At Noah’s Ark we delight in watching these friendships grow and develop. The play experiences and environment we provide create natural opportunity for these budding social skills to strengthen!

During the past few months, the children have been busy solidifying new friendships, learning new songs and developing new skills while engaged in exciting activities. Our bible stories have brought us to God’s gift of the new king, baby Jesus. Before we left for the holidays, the children performed for our pre-recorded Christmas concert. While we would have loved to invite families in to watch, covid required us to be creative! Next week we will hear the story of when Jesus was left behind at the temple. Jesus is growing and learning, just like we are growing and learning!

We are heading into our 3rd week of playschool, and both teachers and parents alike are becoming more and more efficient with our COVID protocols. Thank-you parents for all your effort in learning our drop off and pick up practices and your patience as we smooth out our procedures. In the classroom we have been singing many new songs, we have learned our first letter (Letter L) and we heard our first bible story; the story of creation. We have said rhymes to learn our new friend’s names and have seen many new friendships blossoming! Stay tuned for our monthly newsletter with song lyrics so you can practice at home!

One more sleep until the new Playschool year begins! After more than 5 months hiatus, we are SO excited to be in the classrooms again; welcoming returning students and meeting new ones! If you or someone you know is still looking, our Monday/Wednesday afternoon class still has a few spaces!

It's been a fun and interesting year! We are looking forward to some quiet time over the summer and then welcoming you all back in the fall! We have some great things coming your way! We still have some spaces in available for next year, please call to inquire!
