October is ! We wanted to focus on a common question from parents. How does screen time affect my child’s eyes? Children are spending more time on electronic screens than playing outdoors. A study have shown that spending more time outdoors has a protective effect for preventing myopia in children, but does not slow down progression in children who already have myopia. Children should keep a reasonable distance and not hold devices too close to the eye...s. The most important advice is to balance out activities between activities involving near vision (ex. Reading, using tablets) and participate in outdoor activities (such as walking, hiking, swimming). We recommend taking regular breaks often from screens every 30-60 mins.
