We all know to brush, floss and visit the dentist 2-3 times per year, but there are many other ways to optimize your oral health too! Careful brushing with a soft bristled toothbrush to protect your enamel and gums. Don't forget to brush your tongue too! Store your toothbrush upright to reduce bacteria build up. On that note, always change your brush every 3 months and after you've been sick.... Your diet affects your oral health. You can eat to keep your teeth stronger and avoid things that can hurt your mouth. Good gut health is critical to the health of your gums and any infection in your mouth can hurt the rest of your body. Eat healthy foods and sticky, sweet and acidic foods in moderation. Get screened for oral cancer at your next dental appointment or check out self assessment instructions. Yet another reason to drink lots of water is to help maintain your saliva flow. This keeps particles moving so they don't get stuck and cause problems to develop. Lastly, don't use your teeth as tools and take steps (including talking to your dentist) to protect your teeth and jaw if you grind or clench in your sleep. Optimal oral health is well worth the investment! #OralCare #DentalHealth #HygieneTips #YouAreWhatYouEat #ReplaceYourToothbrush #CalgaryDentist #NWCalgary #NWCalgaryDentist #OralCancerScreening #StayHydrated #Mouthguard #Nightguard #FamilyDentist #NolanHill #Creekside

Mouthguards are not just for protecting your teeth when you're playing sports. A nightguard can help to minimize the impact of grinding and clenching in your sleep as well!... Talk to your dentist about it if you have any of these concerns.
