We want to share something with you. We’ve been working with Jeremy Pue at White Cloud Productions on a video about the experience of losing someone to fentanyl overdose. It’s not ready yet, but we wanted to tease it and show what exactly NMDF is all about, and why we’re doing this. We need to talk about fentanyl. Will you be part of the solution to this epidemic?
Testing your supply is one of the ways to prevent overdose for you and your friends. It’s quick, easy, and zero judgement. It’s a resource 100% motivated to keep you alive. Have you had your drugs tested? What was the experience like for you? Do you ever recommend to your friends that that have their supply tested before using?
No More Dead Friends is an initiative founded by Kelsey Walker and Joshua Seinen in response to the overdose epidemic in BC. One of the many young lives lost in the past few years to fentanyl related overdoses was Taylor Walker. A daughter, sister, cousin, and dear friend. The pain felt by those who adored Taylor and feel her absence everyday, is echoed throughout our community as more people die, of the same cause, weekly. We want to know who you have lost and hear their stories. Let them serve as a reminder for the work that remains to be done, to prevent more untimely deaths of our loved ones. Taylor Marie Walker, March 25 1996 - February 21 2017.
Stigma prevents dialogue. Shame promotes fear. It’s time to end that. Let’s open ourselves and others up to honest and thoughtful conversation about the future of drug use in this climate of overdose epidemics. What are some resources you use, or feel you’re lacking, to foster safer drug use practices among you and your friends?
No More Dead Friends aims to perpetuate the conversation about overdose among our peers. We want to encourage the community to be frank and honest about the realities of fentanyl related overdose deaths in BC and stay educated about what we can all do to prevent more deaths in the future. We are a community initiative sharing resources and information to arm friends with the knowledge to make safe, educated choices about drug use. . We want to hear from you. How do you stay alive? How have you started a dialogue with your friends about responsible drug use.
