This patient presented with left jaw pain, trouble opening and closing her mouth, pain on chewing and pain over the sinus area. Li4 (Hoku), SI 19 and ST 6 acupuncture pointer used and she reported 90% relief after the session was completed.... Getting straight teeth with braces doesn't mean you have to extract teeth. The patient has crowding of her teeth and a deep bite. Also the patient had a MVA previously that has caused her to headaches, facial pain, neck pain and shoulder pain. She also reports having clicking and popping in the jaw joints, jaw locking, jaw pain on opening and closing, and pain on chewing. TMJ Disorders and Headaches are directly related AND can be treated without drugs or medications. . . . POST 1 OF 3 A narrow and underdeveloped maxilla entrapped the mandible which created a retruded mandible and a compression of the auriculotemporal nerve (located behind the condyle) . The patient also had a bilateral TMJ internal derangement that was verified with the TMJ MRI and CBCT. Maxillofacial orthopedics (ALF) was used to develop the maxilla orthopedically and... allow the entrapped mandible to translate forward. This causes the nerve entrapment of the auriculotemooral nerve to be eliminated and an amelioration of her TMJ Disorder symptoms. Also non extraction braces (orthodontics) treatment was utilized. . POST 2 OF 3 TMJ Imaging (MRI & CBCT) was completed to help diagnose her internal tmj derangement before starting her treatment. . POST 3 OF 3 Our patient had a deep bite, class 2 skeletal relationship and a class 2 molar relationship. Her TMJ MRI showed a bilateral TMJ disc internal derangement that accounted for her skelatal class 2 mandible. Non surgical Upper jaw development (jaw expansion) and jaw repositioning was completed.
