This is Dan and his Hefeweizen! Part brewer, part cellar master, part rap music aficionado and certified "green thumb", Dan has been a pivotal part of our brewing team since the summer of 2019. Dan's first release is a small batch of our Hefeweizen. Inspired by Bavarian tradition, this hazy wheat beer is a refreshing reminder of good times and summer months ahead. True to style, this Hefeweizen's biscuity backbone exhibits modest banana and pear notes with underlying cloves ...and minimal bitterness or sweetness. Heads up, this German ale has enjoyed a natural fermentation within its bottle, permitting an elevated level of carbonation unattainable in standard cans and impossible to pour through a draught-system. Our Hefeweizen pours a hazy, deep-golden colour with persistent pillowy white head. To get the perfect pour, upend your preferred glassware and place over opened bottle-mouth. Using both hands, keep the bottle's mouth nested in the bottom of the glass and tilt to horizontal, and then to near vertical, allowing the beer to slowly submerge the mouth. This will prevent sloshing, agitating, or bruising the beer. As the glass fills, gently pull the bottle outward, chasing the beer up to complete the pour. Prost! A Bit About Dan From his enthusiasm for learning about space and rocketry to toying with the idea of becoming a helicopter pilot to immersing himself in the wild world of tree-planting and reforestation, Dan's life story has many chapters and we're pleased to see the newest pages in his tale are happening here at Nonsuch. Dan's passion for beer is undeniable and he says it's been special to him since he was a kid. "I remember hot summer days, I was maybe five years old, and my dad would put a bottle in my one hand with the last inch of some lager. On my other hand, he'd dab each of my fingers with barbecue sauce and I'll never forget that feeling like this is the life." It may be a while until you can sit down and chat with Dan so until then get a taste of his Hefeweizen from Nonsuch.beer. 100 bottles are available now, limit of two per order.

Our Scotia Glass! The name for this glass came to us by linking a handful of ideas and stories close to us Ask an architect, and they may tell you scotia is a type of molding with a concave profile primarily used in classical architecture. The glass itself features it’s own distinct slight curved/concave profile. Both of these ideas led us to Scotia St., where the home of our Président, Matthew sits, nestled on the Red River. Slowly but surely, the river sculpts the ri...verbank and forms it’s own concave path over time. From there, the idea flows with the water into the style of beer we selected for this glass: our Baltic Porter. The style is named after the Baltic Sea, and is characterized, in part, by a dark appearance shown off by the glass.
