eat.drink.be cozy That’s our mission here at the nook. To give all people an opportunity to eat good food, drink tasty beverages and enjoy a cozy space of belonging. We miss creating these things more than you could know. We have done our best to pivot in a way that makes sense and is sustainable over the last 14 months. It has been a wild ride and we have rode the rollercoaster of emotions that have come with constant ebbs and flows of navigating this new world. ... We have made the choice to remain closed since we wrapped up the holiday season in 2020 in an effort to help slow the spread of C19. We recognize that this is a privilege as a business to be able to make this choice. It has been tough but the risks outweigh the potential benefits and we want to do everything we can to keep our community safe. As a business we aim to put people before profits every time. That being said, the nook is still a for profit business and we, like so many others, have been squeezed pretty tight these past months. We have had loads of folx asking us how they can help, and the simple answer is order from us when we have orders open. You can still get in on our Mum’s Day treats until 6pm tomorrow and we have lots of openings left for pick up this Saturday. Mothers Days isn’t your jam? That’s ok, you can just buy delicious things to enjoy yourself or share with others. Maybe just a random act of cake kindness or some quiche for the freezer. If money is tight and you just can’t swing it, even sharing this post and telling your pals about our offerings can go a long way. We know we aren’t alone in this struggle. We are back at it folx. Our second week of being Covid open. We’ll be honest, it’s a bit nerve wracking. Having had to adjust our business model, staffing and offerings in addition to implementing new practices all in hopes that people will come to this quiet little corner of downtown and choose us. We are working hard to keep things safe for both you and our staff. For that reason our indoor seating remains closed at this time. The patio is open and of course grab and go is ...available, too. Fresh baking daily and a small lunch menu for now. The coffees always hot (or throw it on ice) and we are smiling at you behind our masks. Reminder we are on reduced hours until we get settled in. Since we are getting back into the swing of things, we thought we would offer up a Fan Favourite Friday post for y’all and shout out @thequiltbag. Owned and Operated by the power couple that is Parker and Rebecca, the QUILTBAG is pretty much the raddest little gift shop, hub, and collective space around. They, like many small shops, have had to close their physical location in the wake of the Pandemic. Thankfully they are still fully operational online for curbside pickup or ...shipping. One thing we think makes The QUILTBAG so awesome is their celebration of Queer families and the fact that they support local Queer artists. We want LGBTQ2S+ families, no matter how they are made, to shine and we believe artists should be able to make a living from their work. We are honoured to work with these fine folx bringing their pronoun pins across the river and dreaming up ways to spread Queer cheer around YEG. Everyday is great day to support your favourite Queers, but in light of the current BLM conversations and in honour of pride month, it only seemed fitting that The Quilt Bag get some extra love right now. We know many of you are wondering when we will open. We have been working hard on a strategy and though we still have many unanswered questions, we believe we can return with modified hours to serve our community and those who venture to our little corner of YEG. Things will look different, they may change as the days and weeks go on and we thank you for your continued patience and support as we figure things out. For now here is what it looks like. We will reopen June 17th ...and be open Wednesday’s, Thursday’s, and Friday’s 8am-2pm, Saturdays 9am-3pm. Our patio will be open with indoor seating reduced. We encourage folx to limit their stays, grab’n go whenever possible and preorders are always helpful. Keep in mind we will be working with a modified menu and quantities as we get reacquainted. Unfortunately at this time, we are unable to offer public washrooms and will need to keep our bathroom facilities closed. We will continue to post on our socials with new information and update our google hours to keep you informed.
