NHAC Families & Friends - Our Swimmers Need YOUR HELP! Last week Norfolk County staff recommended that the Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre stay closed until sometime AFTER October 1. Other community pools are open NOW! It is time for the ACAC pool to reopen & to get the Hammerheads BACK IN THE WATER! The NHAC Board advocated for weeks to have the pool reopened but no one from Norfolk County returned the emails or calls. Bill Cridland, General Manager of Community Services is... on record telling Council that user groups were consulted about reopening. Neither NHAC nor the Simcoe Seals (aka 2 of the biggest user groups) were contacted! This week, Mayor Chopp told one of our parents that if we want the pool open then we should be advocating. LET'S ADVOCATE! On Behalf of our Swimmers - PLEASE - send a letter to Norfolk Council and County Staff demanding that action be taken to reopen the ACAC pool immediately. Please email your letter to: Mayor Chopp & Norfolk County Council - [email protected] Bill Cridland, General Manager, Community Services - [email protected]) Todd Shoemaker, Director, Parks and Recreation - [email protected]

Zona smashing more swim records and unofficially breaks a world mark in the process It's safe to say it has been a pretty good month for local swimmer Zach Zona.... Zona, who swims for the Norfolk Hammerheads and Centre Sportif de Haute-Performance Quebec had a record smashing performance at the Neptune Invitational in Montreal, setting several Canadian para standards over the weekend. At the event in Montreal, Zona set new records in the S8 400-metre freestyle (4:40.23), 800m freestyle (9:54.00) and SM8 record in the 100m individual medley (1:13.15). His 800m freestyle time was six seconds faster than the world record, however, it is unofficial as the meet did not hold a WPS sanction. At the Swim International meet in Brantford, Zona also broke the SB7 record in the 100m breaststroke (1:31.33). For his efforts, Zona, from Waterford, was named Swim Ontario Athlete of the Month .
