Youth Mural Project & Adult Portrait Painting Classes Just a reminder that the Norman Wells Historical Centre will be hosting a mural painting class for youth aged 10-17 with facilitator and artist Laurie McGaw every Tuesday over a five week period beginning July 30th (Tomorrow). Laurie will also be instructing portrait drawing and oil painting classes for adults, every Thursday evening and Saturday afternoons, respectively. All materials will be provided. Call 587-2415 or email [email protected] for more information and to reserve your spot, space is limited! Also for the youth joining the mural painting class, tomorrow will be a bit of brainstorming and drawing down ideas for the mural, and if you can possibly bring a plastic can or little container for the variety of paints that can be put out, we have a lot thank you.

The Norman Wells Historical Society would like to extend a big thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors, and visitors who helped make the 2013 Aboriginal Day Celebration this past weekend a great success! Thank you to Imperial Oil Ltd, the Norman Wells Land Corporation, GNWT Industry, Tourism & Investment, Northern Store, and the Royal Canadian Legion. A special thank you goes out to Matco Transportation for volunteering their time, equipment, and manpower to move the picnic tables to the museum, and to Kelly McCoy Enterprises for donating their time and effort to set up the stage (on short notice to boot)! We could never host such an event on our own, so we appreciate all of your assistance and efforts immensely!
