People from sexual minority groups are THREE TIMES more likely to experience sexual violence in Canada than heterosexual folks. Trans folks are also more lik...ely than cis folks to be the targets of violent victimization, right here in Canada. The Journey Project is here for ALL survivors - we see you on #IDAHOBIT and everyday. Reach out to us.

To all of the brave, resilient, worthy survivors in our communities, especially the incredible Jane Doe today, we wish you relief, peace and rest. May today bri...ng a much needed, much deserved sigh of relief. As organizations who work with survivors every day, we know that despite today’s outcome, so many of our systems, particularly our current legal system, deny healing, accountability, and justice to survivors of sexual violence. When we listen to survivors we know that other options are possible that allow for: -true recognition and accountability -sharing our experiences without fear of backlash or judgement -restorative and transformative justice -prevention of all forms of violence Without change, our systems will continue to retraumatize survivors survivors who have been denied justice by perpetrators, by communities, by law makers and leaders, and by the courts. To survivors all survivors know that you are not alone. We believe you. We see you. We’re with you. #SupportForJaneDoe #WeBelieveSurvivors NL Sexual Assault Crisis and Prevention Centre Photo Credit: Paul Tong/Op-Art
