Did you know? If you have a source that cannot be recovered or recorded by a writer, you can still cite them! These are called personal communications. APA Style defines personal communications as including (but not limited to) "emails, text messages, online chats or direct messages, personal interviews, telephone conversations, live speeches, unrecorded classroom lectures, memos, letters, messages from nonarchived discussion groups, and online bulletin boards" (APA Style, 2019). Find out more about how to cite them here: https://apastyle.apa.org//citatio/personal-communications

Did you know that the Centre for Growth and Harmony offers a range of trainings and events for NorQuest students throughout the year? ‘Question, Persuade, Refer’ (QPR) teaches basic suicide prevention strategies and tackles myths and stigma surrounding this topic. These workshops are open to any student with a vested interest in learning how to respond to someone in distress and referring them to appropriate, professional help. ‘The Inquiring Mind’ introduces key con...cepts of mental illness and various strategies to maintain mental health. The workshop helps students to develop skills and knowledge to ensure a more successful academic and personal life, as well as helping to create a safe and supportive campus environment for all. We also run one-off community events such as ‘Movies for Mental Health’ that showcases student-produced short films created to tackle the stigma and highlight the reality of mental illness through art. This event includes a live panel discussion with students, staff and community resource specialists. For information about any of our upcoming workshops or events, please contact the Centre for Growth and Harmony [email protected] 780.644.6155 or visit https://www.norquest.ca//student-/health-and-wellness.aspx

#knowyourlibrary Sometimes we don't have an item you are looking for, like a scholarly article from a database we do not have a subscription to. What happens then? If we do not have access to materials you want, we will search for it elsewhere and ask other libraries to send us the specific material. This process is called an interlibrary loan (ILL). Check out this article about how ILL's work from our friends over at the University of Alberta Library!... P.S. If you cannot find an article or book chapter in our databases, you can submit your own request for an ILL to us - link in the comments!
