I am pleased to announce that the #vaccine dosing interval for urban Indigenous in Ontario has been reversed to the original 21-28 day schedule as recommended b...y the manufacturers. The science tells us that those living in urban centers are at even greater risk for hospitalizations and death. I am certain that changing the dosing interval will prevent hospitalizations and save lives. I would like to thank Premier Doug Ford, Minister Greg Rickford, Minister Sylvia Jones and Minister Christine Elliott and the Ontario Cabinet for making this change and for supporting First Nations throughout the pandemic. Others who have been instrumental in this change are Dr. Homer Tien, the Ontario Minister’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force, the First Nation’s and Urban Indigenous Tables that advise the Task Force, Dr. Janet Smylie, Dr. Lisa Richardson, IAO Deputy Minister Shawn Batise and his staff, Chiefs of Ontario Leaderhip and staff; and, of course my own staff, Colleen Seary and the full COVID-19 Initatives Team.
