Hey Prince Rupert! Our pictures don’t do justice but the guys from 333 Recovery Homes Society spent two days putting up lights for us! Everyone is loving coming home to our pretty palace. Please drive by and check them out and then give them a shout out for the amazing job they did! It’s the little things that just put the feels out! You guys are the best.

Stopping the Violence Women’s Counsellor (STV) The Stopping the Violence Counselling Program provides individual and group counselling to adult women who have experienced sexual assault, childhood abuse, violence/abuse in relationships and other power-over crimes. This position is 36 hours per week - plus wages starting at $33.17/hour ...(commensurate with experience) and benefits. Qualifications Needed: Bachelor of Social Work (preferred degree) or Bachelor’s degree in a related human service field. Today is the tragic 31st anniversary of the Montreal Massacre. There will be no vigil this year. We ask though that you take a moment to remember the fourteen women who murdered because they were women. We cannot let go of this horrendous piece of history because violence against women continues to this day, in Canada and everywhere around the world. For Christmas this year we have 120 people staying with us between the Raven's Keep Transition House, Crow's Nest Lodge, Crane's Crossing Homeless Shelter and our housing programs. We are hoping to be able to provide everyone with a filled Christmas stocking. If you are interested in helping out, some suggestions: Christmas stockings Treats Toiletries Hygiene products... Gift cards Recreation center tickets Socks Gloves, mittens, warm hats Underwear Blankets And so forth! Hey Prince Rupert! We have an exciting position to fill in the Raven's Keep Transition House! Life Skills Support Worker Full-time Permanent position 35 hours/week JOB SUMMARY:... We require a creative, self-motivated innovative individual to take on the role of life skills support worker. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills that can work with the women to provide them with education, support and encouragement to reestablish their lives. Assist clients with their physical, economic, vocational, recreational, social, emotional, and daily life skills development to help clients achieve the greatest degree of independence and quality of life. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with clients on developing plans to meet their needs Provide life skills learning in group and/or individual settings Facilitate groups for women Plan supper menus and engage with women to cook meals Plan and facilitate in-house activities for women and children Review and evaluate client progress and makes adjustments to program as required Provide written and/or verbal reports regarding clients, daily activities, and progress. Ensures that all required documentation is complete and accurate Identify social, economic, recreational, physical, vocational and educational services in the community that will meet client needs. Maintain liaison with other agencies, professionals, and the community Be flexible to cover Transition House Support Worker shifts when needed Provide support to Transition House where needed Complete other related duties as required QUALIFICATIONS: SSW certificate/diploma and/or related training education and experience Required mandatory training: First Aid Level 1 & WHMIS Valid driver’s license and clean abstract Updated criminal record check JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES: Demonstrated solid understanding of the cycle of abuse Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills Proven assertive management of crisis situations and ability to interact with clients Proven effective qualities working with women and children Strong problem solving and decision making skills Established punctual/attendance record This position requires union membership with BCGEU.
