S T O N E G R O U N D flour grown and milled in Manitoba made from organic wheat 100% whole grain ---... In order to maintain the quality of our stonemilled flour, periodic maintenance is necessary. Dressing the stonemills is an ancient practice. Although power tools have made the job much faster, the process remains unchanged. Step 1) Roughing the lands (the flats of the stone). Step 2) Sharpening the furrows (the grooves in the stone). This process is just as vital today as it was hundreds of years ago in order to produce a premium flour. F E B R U A R Y The calm before the storm. These are the final moments of preparation before a new season on the farm begins. ... The farm books get caught up after months of neglect, new bulls are purchased for the upcoming pasture season, and crop plans are finalized before we file the organic paperwork for the new crop year. With just weeks left before calving season, its time to get busy! I am also in my last month of completing the soil food web foundation courses. Its been an intense year of learning, but I cant wait to start analyzing our soil and begin my trials on compost and teas. On the flour side of things we are still in full production and looking forward to growth in the year ahead! 2020 was an amazing year for our online shop and we still cant believe the support shown across Canada. So the goals in 2021 are simple - keep working hard and dont forget the memories made along the way!
