COVID-19 Immunization for Young People As of May 14, all young people in Manitoba aged 12 to 17 are eligible to be immunized against COVID-19 with the Pfizer va...ccine. The Pfizer vaccine was initially approved for people aged 16 and older in December 2020 and after further scientific study, it was approved in Canada for young people aged 12 to 15 as well. This is the only vaccine in Canada approved for use in this age group. The vaccine is safe, effective, and will help prevent young people from getting the virus, passing it to others, or experiencing serious outcomes. In the third wave of COVID-19, the virus is more contagious and affecting younger people more seriously, so it is important to immunize as many people as possible as quickly as possible to slow the spread. At this time, the Pfizer vaccine is available at supersites and urban Indigenous clinics. For more information please visit: https://www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/vaccine/young-people.html #PROTECTYOURSELF #PROTECTOURPEOPLE #PROTECTOURCOMMUNITIES #DOITFOROURELDERS #DOITFOROURCHILDREN #VACCINEPROUD

The social isolation measures necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic are making it more difficult for those who are at risk of abuse or violence to safely reach ...out for help. Signal for Help is a simple one-handed sign someone can use on a video call. It can help a person silently show they need help and want someone to check in with them in a safe way. If you see someone use the Signal for Help, check in with the person safely to find out what they need and want you to do. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency services (police, fire, ambulance). What are some ways to safely check in? 1. Call them and ask questions that can be answered YES or NO. For example, you can ask: Would you like me to call 911? Would you like me to call a shelter on your behalf? Should I look for some services that might help you and call you back? 2. Use another form of communication such as text, social media, WhatsApp, or email and ask general questions. This may reduce risk if someone is watching the person’s device or accounts. For example, you can ask: How are you doing? How can I help you out? Get in touch with me when you can. 3. Other questions you can ask: Do you want me to reach out to you regularly? How else can I support you? #manitoba #loveisrespect #selflove #strength #empowerment #Gethelp #domesticviolenceawareness #breakthecycle #breakthesilence #loveshouldnthurt #dvsurvivor #survivorspeaks #supportsurvivors #ncadv #nomore #Novahouse #Powerofthepjs #november #domesticabuseawarenessmonthmb
