Located within the historic ranchlands of the Cariboo Region, Ducks Unlimited Canada in B.C. is rebuilding the 108 Mile Ranch control structures. The project wi...ll ensure that the 250 acres of significant waterfowl breeding habitat provided by the project are maintained into the future. DUC’s Vision for the Intermountain Region is of a landscape that supports healthy populations of birds, maintains biodiversity and fosters sustainable resource use. By rebuilding these dams DUC is helping to mitigate the effects of climate change on the local landscape. The project is located in the heart of the semi-arid Cariboo Parklands biome, and the 108 Mile Marshes are critical to breeding waterfowl due to its high number of productive wetland complexes. Thanks to our partners in this project Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation Environment and Climate Change U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Cariboo Regional District The Blue Goose Cattle Company, and the 108 Greenbelt Commission

Wetlands are a biological resource similar to rainforests and coral reefs. The plants, animals, and bacteria that live in the wetlands help to clean your water ...before it reaches your tap. Our staff work to protect this vital resource for communities across the province. It’s what we do. But we can’t do it without all the help from our volunteers and donors. Thank you to everyone who makes conservation part of their everyday life. Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation

Unless you live along the coast, you may not be familiar with the king eider. These beautiful sea ducks nest in the far north and winter along the coast of the maritime provinces and states and off the coast of Alaska, where they forage for shellfish. Tim Bowman
