Giving a shout out to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC on #Pinkshirtday and reminding us all to #BeKind. Even if it is just buying a coffee for a stranger or letting a stranger go before you in line...it is the little things that can mean soooooooooooo much!
We are so honoured to have Terrance Kosikar as one of the guest speakers at the Expo. His work at Camp My Way and so many other causes from #Depression to #Firstresponders will move you. Six years after the death of a Georgian luge athlete on the opening day of the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, the first responder who tried to save him is still wrapped in the chains of post-traumatic stress disorder. Terrance is known for flipping a nearly 200 kilogram tractor tire through the back roads of Canada while wearing nearly 25 kilograms of steel chain. Mr. Kosikar said the tire and chain are symbols of the burden he has had to endure with a long, lonely battle with suicide attempts and addiction after the death of Nodar Kumaritashvili triggered his mental disorder. http://nbchealthylivingexpo.com/terrance-kosikar/

Taking on a new position this year as lead guide, and CEO of Camp My Way to connect and support others in the most powerful of means. Utilizing her Lived Experience to help provide our First Responders, Veterans, At Risk Youth and their families effected by PTSD with the tools she has used to fuel her drive, to overcome, and shift her PTSD from a stigma to empowerment. Two minutes before the armistice went into effect, at 10:58 am, on November 11, 1918 (signaling the end of the war), private George Lawrence Price was felled b...y a bullet. Price would become the final Commonwealth soldier-and the last of more than 66,000 canadians to be killed in World War 1. So every year, on November 11, Canadians bow their heads in 2 minutes of silence. See more
