Are you worried about the impending energy costs of a hot summer? Here are some tips that will help you save some money on your AC! 1. Don't just set it and forget it. If you have central air controlled by a thermostat, use a programmable thermostat to save energy by turning the desired temperature up during the day when the house is empty. You can give up a couple degrees at night, too especially on the hottest days.... 2. Clean the air filter. Whether you have central air or a window unit, a dirty filter will reduce your AC's efficiency, making it use more energy. Check your HVAC system's air filter monthly and expect to change the filter every three months. 3. Get an annual checkup. If you have central air, bring in a pro to check it out once per year should cover both the heating and the cooling season. A professional should be able to diagnose any inefficiencies before you've wasted money on monthly heating and cooling bills.

#ThrowbackThursday Willis Havilland Carrier invited the first form of the air conditioner in 1902 and it still forms the basis of the modern AC unit today! Air was forced through a filter of a piston-driven compressor, where it was pumped over coils that were chilled using coolant. The cold air was then expelled into a closed space using a fan, cooling the room and stabilizing the humidity. He came up with the idea while working at a paper company and realizing that humidity... played a factor in how the paper reacted in the presses! By 1915, he was running his own company, Carrier Engineering Corp., which supplied cooling systems to hotels, department stores, theaters and, eventually, private homes. Carrier died in 1950, at 73, but his company still exists and remains a major manufacturer of cooling and refrigeration systems.

The heat is here! Call our dedicated service team to come handle all your summer air conditioning needs. When you see this truck sitting outside your window, you know the job will get done right!
#TipsTuesday Even a heating and cooling system that is running well can use a hand keeping temperatures steady. It takes more than just following basic heating and cooling tips. Energy saving extends into the home, as well, such as keeping shades down on hot summer days to reduce the heat from the sun, for instance. Other things that matter at home include: Reverse the direction of the fan each season. During the summer, it should rotate counter-clockwise and in winter cloc...kwise. A switch at the base of the fan allows you to change the blade direction. Monitor the thermostat reading. Just five degrees either way makes a difference in energy usage. See more
Have a great long weekend everyone!

Did you know that your old thermostat is potential harmful? Does it look like one of these? It may contain harmful mercury so look to upgrade today! Health Issues: Mercury is a potent neurotoxin that can damage the brain and nervous system at very low levels. Mercury contamination is most likely to occur by eating contaminated fish or other animals, or by breathing evaporated or incinerated mercury released during waste processing. The effects on children can be particularly serious.
Should we have a Heat Recovery ventilator (HRV) in our home? Here are some key points why you should! 1.They lower heating and cooling costs.... 2.They provide better indoor air quality 3.Newly built homes require them. The Ontario Building Code (OBC) 2012 has been revised to require heat recovery ventilators (HRVs) in all new homes after Dec. 31, 2016. See more
