Imagining all of the beauty that we can build our lives on when we lay the foundation with love... A snapshot of the evolution of Points North

Northern Edge Algonquin 24.01.2021

WILD WISDOM As we move through life we experience moments of shift, new phases which bring distinct periods of transformation and growth. Although there may be phases where we thrive, phases where we feel frozen in limbo, and phases where we are deeply challenged, each phase brings its lesson and has a purpose in leading you to become who you are. Notice what beauty there is to experience in the phase you’re in and that is it all temporary. Soon a new phase will be upon you. ... INSPIRATION Created by a phase change, hoarfrost forms as a beautiful crystal layer of ice on vegetation, fences, and other solid surfaces created by water vapour in an above freezing atmosphere coming into contact with a below-freezing surface. This contact causes the water vapour to reach the freezing point and results in changing phases from vapour to ice. #wildwisdom #naturerx #natureknows #explorersedge #algonquinpark

This time of year can present as difficult even without the weight of being nearly a year into a global pandemic. Many a spirit, mind and body are tired, this we know for sure. But those tired minds, bodies, and spirits are quietly gaining strength in the small moments. The small moments of honouring the need for rest, of being ok with just being ok, and in dreaming big dreams despite the uncertainty of the future. And each day that beautiful sun rises, providing each of us with an opportunity to rise to the occasion right along side it and find beauty in the little things

WILD WISDOM Every day provides an opportunity to start anew. To begin with a smile, rise up and shine that bright beautiful light inside you for all to see. INSPIRATION The sun does not worry whether or not it is too bright for some, or not bright enough for others. It simply rises, and sets in its own divine timing.

Monday Gratitude Check-In Community connection, the beautiful December snowfall, the joy that children bring to a space, delicious food cooked with care & finding the time and space to enjoy preparing for the holidays were on our list this morning. What are you feeling grateful for today? ... by Natalie Lucier #selfcare #appreciatethelittlethings #gratitude #algonquinpark

The holiday season is upon us and just like the rest of 2020, it looks a little different than what many of us are likely used to. But do you know what hasn't changed? That magical glint the sun makes on the snow on a clear day, or the warmth it can bring you if you stare up at the sky even on the coldest of winter days. Today we invite you to pause for even just a moment outdoors, look up, take a big breath and despite the challenges this year has brought forth, remember a few things you are grateful for - like that big beautiful sunshine

"Being outside, away from all electronics, we settle into the rhythms of the sun and moon, the earth and water, wind and weather. We tune in to each other and listen to our stories in our own voices, in real-time. We gather around the campfire and nourish each other with sisterhood, and forget for a moment that the outside world exists." A lovely blog written by Cline, the wonderful facilitator who led all of our Wild Women Expeditions retreats this past summer and fall about how our experiences are different in these times.

Fantastic discussion here between one of our favourite inspirational speakers and writers, Brené Brown and fascinating neuroscientist/TED speaker/author David Eagleman. While its true that our name, the Edge, is relevant to our gegraphic location on the edge of Algonquin Park - there is a deeper meaning behind it. So much of our programming is designed in a way that helps bring guests to their own growing edges. How do we do that? By encouraging them to try new things and challenge themselves to step just outside of their comfort zones, which, according to this amazing perspective, is so important when it comes to and individual's continued brain development and health. Check it out! https://n-e-a.ca/3n4CMZ2

What might it be like to harvest the wisdom within? What nourishment might be revealed as you gather the bounty from your inner landscape? What might it be like to collect a reserve of health and stamina for the winter ahead? Imagine breathing in the fresh air and smells of earth while the fall colors display the beauty of change and of letting go. Or, cozying up by a campfire under the starry night sky that invites you into wonderment about the unknown. https://fb.me/e/4HvGTT3wT

Introducing WILD WISDOM, a weekly offering of insights from the wild. Wild Wisdom "Letting go of parts of yourself that are no longer serving you can feel difficult or uncomfortable, but oftentimes they leave behind a space for something new, something needed in this particular moment. Sometimes you have to peel away the bark to reveal a layer that may have been there all along but just wasn’t quite ready to come to the surface yet. Today we invite you to ground through th...ese changes, standing strong in your roots but remaining open to the new pieces being revealed." Fun Fact: Birch trees are able to photosynthesis through their bark. Therefore the peeling of bark may allow the removal of a lichen light-blocking layer to expose the live inner bark. This way the tree can take advantage of sunny winter days to create carbohydrates even with no leaves on its branches.
