Last but not least in our 2020 Online Songwriting Contest winner showcase is our 1st place winners, The Banzinga Brothers with their original Nero’s Waltz, which they tell us is a depressing little number inspired by the Roman empire, fire and brimstone gospel, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Town Mountain and of course the Pandemic. When Elliot and Jaxon aren't busy socially distancing due to a pandemic they are busy playing with their slightly larger band, The Local Group. We can’t wait to see the Bazinga Brothers and the rest of you in 2021 for a hopefully non-socially distanced festival, but until then enjoy the last in our COVID friendly Online Songwriting Contest winner showcase!!

Up next is Becky Pichurski and the Solo Veranda Band, her song Dumpster on Fire landed her tied for 2nd in our 2020 Online Songwriting Contest. Becky lives in the Crowsnest Pass, AB, where she teaches grade 1 full time, and crams a whole lot of music around it, playing with both the Little Mountain Misses and the Second Fiddle String Jam. Like many of us, Becky can’t wait to get back to jamming with her bands together, rather than together apart (in socially distanced fashion). It just seems to be getting colder out there, but things are heating up right here with Laird Brittin, one of our 2nd place winners from the 2020 Online Songwriting Contest! Laird has been playing guitar and writing songs for many, many years. He has performed in folk-type groups and rock’n’roll bands, and currently plays with the group Backroads in the Battlefords, SK If you remember from our contest we challenged our songwriters to use the words: DUMPSTER-FIRE, MASK, 2021... and a bonus phrase of TOGETHER APART. Next up is the one and only Famous James and The Mom, our 3rd showcase of the 2020 Online Songwriting Contest and our final 3rd place winner! Famous James and The Mom is a duo collaboration with small beginnings (4 lb 14 oz to be exact). They’ve been singing together since Baa Baa Black Sheep and enjoy joyful, loud harmonies in no particular key . The camping and music scene is very dear to the heart of Famous James (AND The Mom of course) and they, just like us, are excited for the next Northern Lights Bluegrass Festival and Music Camp!!
